History

The thing named "the Korea group method" to use "Japanese pirates sword method (I devise it from Japanese shade style fencing) of 戚継光演" and the double-edged minute hand to use the Japan sword for with both hands for with both hands is listed in "the armaments will" that the Kaya former matter who is a military science person of the last years of Akiyo wrote in the 1620s.

Of these, when it was the long fencing that the friend of the Japanese nutmeg former matter learned in Korea, about the Korea group method, it was written down, but the Imperial Court of Li-regimed Korea at the time said with "the thing which the origin of Japanese nutmeg matter created" without recognizing this "Korea group method". [the source required] cannot confirm the documents proving the right or wrong of this description elsewhere, and there is the opinion that 失伝 is the Chinese style minute hand art of Tang charges said to that did it.

In the first place the viewpoint of the military officer was low in Li-regimed Korea, and 武班 was always put in the low rank of the sentence group among people belonging to the governing classes in Korea who were a Korean noble. Originally this had effect of a low rank of the brainwork and the tendency to do on the Confucian manual labor to be in a dominant position in thought in an aspect and the Korean Peninsula which just took in the office and rank characteristics that it was said that the civil officer was located above the military officer in the ancient times that were a suzerain in China. Naturally the martial arts were downplayed, and 技以外 which was a tradition since Silla was not prosperous.

The sword used many most in the Korean Peninsula was not a single edge such as the current Japanese sword and was a double-edged blade, and a double-edged blade sword was used for a long time in the Korean Peninsula. The name of the well-known swordmaker, polisher of swords is not left in the Korean Peninsula in modern times from the Middle Ages, too. As for the decisive one, the China, iron manufacture method of Korea moves to the iron ore, and even raw materials and the trace that does it, and did direct reduction cannot find iron sand like Japanese 踏鞴製鉄 in the Korean Peninsula.

"The kendo" of the form to use the sword with both hands using arrival at protective gear, bamboo sword, way of Japan, a hakama reached Korea and, under the rule after the Meiji era in Japan, settled afterwards. The skill of the kendo includes an aspect, the fingers, a trunk, a stab, but is the conduct of the Japanese sword of all single edge. (conduct should change in double-edged blade fencing and the single edge fencing naturally).

The large Korea kendo meeting which is a unification group of kendo in Korea in the present age of the history of the kendo (けんどう) carry out an original promotion standard to examine Japan kendo form and both of the own country art of fencing in the case of the promotion examination saying that insist when is based, and Taketo of the Rhee Dynasty and the manners and customs leave form, and is "an own country art of fencing" by the Korea group method of "armaments will" mention.

コムド and kendo

I assume コムド "a Korean tradition art of fencing", and there are many the コムド groups speaking that it is the origin of the kendo. However, there are not the grounds to support the historical fact that "コムド" caused the kendo, and the large Korea kendo society that is the Korea's biggest kendo group does コムド when kendo is the cause.

It was taken up about this in a Web page of the International Kendo Federation [3] of all-Japan federation of kendo [2] and federation of all-Japan kendo subordinates, and insistence of the コムド group was a mistake historically, and the origin of the kendo was announced some other time by Japan when there was it.

Group

I exist more than approximately 200 groups in Korea, but I am not so active, and the interchange between groups is unsociable. And I call other kendo groups an impostor on the great Korea kendo society side (because only great Korea kendo society joins the great Korea physical education society). I classify it mainly here in the origin and a process of the establishment that they insist on. I can greatly classify the コムド groups in three now. "Kendo" is used many for a group name, but most of those groups still less accept claim [2] of the federation of International Kendo Federation and all-Japan kendo [3].
