AL-41 (engine)

AL-41F is the variable cycle jet engine which Russian NPO サトゥールン designed for 1.44 developed [1]. It is intended to get ability for super sonic speed cruise. The development name is Izdeliye 20.

A design and development

In Al-41F, development is started for 1.44 in 1985, and the first prototype is suspended across Tu-16 in 1990, and a flight test is carried out. AL-41F adopts the variable cycle when I can change (method) depending on a turbojet and flight condition for a cycle of the operation in a turbofan, the high speed in the low speed. I can in this way adapt myself to the wide flight range. As for the aim thrust that there was with external form dimensions together to replace AL-41F with AL-31F used for the Sukhoi Su-27 series, the thrust (at the time of use of afterburner) of the trial manufacture engine was 176 kN in 200 kN (45,000 lbf) (39,600 lbf). A ceramic tile is comprised to the nozzle to have pace, the twin expression thrust inclination nozzle of the ヨー direction, and to reduce heat radiation. The development of this engine was stopped with the cancellation of the 1.44 plan, but the technique provided by development was fed back by later AL-41F1, AL-41F1S.

Derivation type

A large improved model of AL-31F will be used for Su-35 and T-50, and this is referred to AL-41F1S (117S) and AL-41F1(117). Both are different from AL-41F adopting a new core having the core of the AL-31F system unlike the engine of the AL-41 system planned for 1.44.
