Summary

  • For the purpose of interchange of the East Asia area that assumed the holding of the FIFA World Cup, Japanese-to-Korean meet an opportunity and the improvement of the soccer level, it was started in 2003. Initial of "Asia", "3" express Japan, China and South Korea three countries, and "A" of "A3" symbolizes the idea of this meeting.
  • The meeting had a schedule and an AFC champions league group league match coming at the same time in 2004.
  • As for the meeting, the overlap of the schedule with the ACL was evaded in 2005, but was in a condition to hardly change with the pre-season match between those teams virtually because the teams which participated in both meetings of A3 and the ACL were often found.
  • The meeting changed the held time in August from conventional February in 2006.
  • Because earnings were not paid to the Chinese Football Association as for the meeting in 2007 by the Korean advertising agency concerned with meeting administration, a problem of the prize money outstanding payment to the participation team occurred, and the skill-lessness of the administration side was exposed, too. In addition, it was recognized that the prize money was not paid to Gamba Osaka of 2006 either, and J League decided not to dispatch position club in A3 until the prize money was paid in full. The links from the J League official site to the A3 official site were deleted, but J League less announces the official comment about this matter. The A3 official site still less remains now.
  • It was in a virtually dormant condition without since then holding revival because the meeting (Korea) was not held in 2008 after all and held problems such as in enhancement or the congestion schedule of an AFC champions league and the Pan Pacific championship.
