Gunpei Yamamuro (in やまむろぐんぺい, September 1, 1872 (July 29, 1872 family register top August 20) -1940 age (1940) March 13) is a Japanese teacher of religion. Brief career history

I enter (1889), the Doshisha University divinity in 1889. Because the student of the colleague receives practical training in the missionary work just after that in Takahashi near the home town of Yamamuro, I participate in this. のち several degrees, Yamamuro participate in "summer missionary work training" in this Takahashi and work hard at study again while I am very poor, but they hurt health in (1894) in 1894 and there is the repulsion to liberalism theology (liberal) spreading out in those days again and leaves Doshisha University [⁶]. (quite said for half a year) worked on missionary work for a while afterwards in Takahashi christianity assembly halls (old Methodist). I obtain existing intellect with Juji Ishii, Kosuke Tomeoka, Shigeko Fukunishi and others by this Takahashi missionary work. It is said that Fukunishi in particular took care of this young missionary probation from the situation that was a representative of department of woman of the church in those days. However, Yamamuro after the Doshisha withdrawal from school was in the middle of the hesitation, and the Fukunishi and others unable to remain indifferent to the wandering of his soul recommended that they entered the son-in-law to the cause of the charitable person of Takahashi to Yamamuro. ^[7] However, I became a dependent on the Okayama orphan home where Yamamuro who expected a course to attend from the propagation and people outside government to the last refused this flatly, and Ishii was as a place for oneself immediate.

I participate in the Salvation Army by the advice of Ishii from (1895) in 1895, the following day. Enlistment is admitted than the Edward right colonel who was Captain of first platoon in those days. ^[8]I publish brochure "battle cry" ("ask for current Salvation Army Japan military and government affairs bulletin of time" の forerunner) and work very much and become a first Japanese officer (preacher). I became the first Salvation Army flag officer in Orientals later and acted as a Japanese military and government affairs commander. Including "the Gospel of the commoner," it was got close a book and the sermon by plain words.

I gave the position to social work, a registered prostitute abolition campaign (abolition of licensed prostitution campaign), a purity campaign for a lifetime. I am presented with 勲六等瑞宝章 (1915) in (1924) in Medal with a Blue Ribbon [⁹], 1924 on November 9 in 1915. I was presented with "a Founder's Medal" than General of Salvation Army in (1937) in 1937.

I die because of (1940), acute pneumonia in 1940 [¹⁰].

Family

Yamamuro machine Keiko (the first, bereavement), Etsuko Yamamuro (the second, bereavement) of the wife, the Tamiko Yamamuro (woman democracy club organization appeal person) of Buho Yamamuro (the name comes from William Booth and George Fox) and the daughter of the child and others played an active part as a woman campaigner, a scholar, a preacher each, too. Mitsuko Abe of the writer is a preacher in wives of 武甫, too.
