Known, オニコニクテリス (Onychonycteris) is one of the oldest things by the extinct genus of the bat eyes that I inhabited approximately 52,500,000 years before the early period of Eocene epoch in a new generation. With a form ancestor-like than イカロニクテリス of the same period, I am considered to be the missing link with other mammals [1]. I belong to Mammalia - bat eyes (wing hand eyes). The scientific name means "the bat which the nail grew" [2].

Characteristic
I have a wing like an actual money class from a finger and the shoulder girdle of the foreleg which lengthened for a long time, thoracic structure and am estimated when the flight was possible. However, I had a nail to all the fingers of the foreleg, and a foreleg had a long hind leg, and it had an ancestor-like characteristic briefly again in comparison with actual money group. It is said that it is the middle with the mammals which the ratio of the length of these limbs uses actual money group and the foreleg including the long-armed ape mainly, and move over a tree. It is estimated that the ancestor of the bat might be an arboreal mammal by this thing. A wingtip part makes the wing of オニコニクエルス small like a blue magpie bat, and the aspect ratio is small, too. Probably it is said that they might do the beating's way of flying called "a gliding beating flight" to make short gliding in an interval like blue magpie bats.
In addition, another characteristic indicating the form of the ancestor of this bat includes lack of the ability for echolocation. The projection of a snail and the malleus of this bat was small and did not do the particularization in conjunction with the echolocation to inner ear. A flight leads in the evolution of the bat, and subsequently this shows that I got ability for echolocation. Probably the bat would accomplish various adaptive radiation by having kept both. In addition, a mystery whether a flight and the echolocation that have been continuing in the evolution of the bat for many years are what which preceded will be elucidated by this discovery. [3]
Discovery
The fossil of this creature is discovered in the Green River layer of United States of America Wyoming in 2003. In addition, bat, イカロニクテリス where I inhabited at the same period were discovered in this stratum equally. [1]
