The three-dimensional radar that British Siemens プレッシー (current BAE systems) company developed the 996 type radar (English: Type 996 radar). In addition, I was offered for export as AWS-9, but two dimensions of deployment machines of the Oslo grade frigate are considered to be-type AWS-9 (2-D), and the shape of the antenna is changed to a parabolic antenna, too [1].

Summary

As succession of the British naval 992 type radar and 967/968 type radar, I developed it based on AWS-5 which was a product for export of company and was developed. The development contract was concluded in 1983 and was placed on duty from 1988.

I adopt a traveling-wave tube (TWT) for a radar transmitter, and a technique of AR-320 which is a land radar of the company is introduced into the antenna part. In addition, about the vertical scanning, I adopt FRESCAN method like SMART-S of シグナール company [2].

The 2000s begins, and the new update by the 997 type is started.
