The nuclear warhead that the United States of America developed W56. For the LGM-30 Minuteman I&II intercontinental ballistic missiles of the American air force.

I was developed in Laurence Livermore National Laboratory, and 455 1,000 in total were produced 545, Mod 4 Mod 1-Mod 3 over from 1963 to 1969. It is a heat nuclear warhead, and, as for the size, as for 17.4 inches in diameter, 47.3 inches in length, the weight, 600 pounds, Mod 4 are 680 pounds Mod 1-3. As for the fuse, an airburst and contact detonation are prepared for. W47 nuclear warhead of the design refer to it. The nuclear output is 1.2Mt. LGM-30 Minuteman I&II is a single warhead missile and puts W56 on Mk.11 re-entry body.

Reliability had a problem, and the initial model to Mod 3 retired once by 1966, and 対爆, anti-radiation performance was redecorated into the Mod 4 specifications that improved later. W56 retires by 1993. All bases were dismantled by June, 2006 [1].
