Origin, person

After graduate school completion, I enter the Matsushita politics and economics private supplementary school which Sachinosuke Matsushita founded for the first graduate. A classmate has Ichiro Aizawa, Yoshihiko Noda, Toshihiko Yokoo, Kunihiko Okada and others.

I run for Ehime congressist election to become the first election for a person from Matsushita politics and economics private supplementary school in 1983 and am elected. I served afterward for two quarters.

In 1993, I run for the 40th member of the House of Representatives general election by LDP official recognition as a successor of Morikyou and am elected (in the successful same period Shinzo Abe, Makiko Tanaka, Akihiko Kumashiro, Masaaki Yokochi, Yasuhisa Shiozaki, Fumio Kishida, Seiko Noda, Seiichi Hamada, Kenji Yamaoka, Tetsuma Esaki, Sanae Takaichi). Election afterward consecutive for five quarters.

I successively hold economic plan generalization vice minister, Senior Vice Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, House of Representatives financial affairs finance chairperson, Mayor of Liberal Democratic Party Central Institute of Politics, academy.

In 2008, intention not to run for is expressed by a next general election. With dissolution of the House of Representatives of the next year, I left the central politics. I am active as "a politician outside government" now. A monthly publishes "OAK, TREE" (oak tree).
