Maria de' Medici (Buddha: for Marie de Médicis, from April 26, 1575 to July 3, 1642) is the second queen of French king Henry IV and is mother of Louis XIII.

Life

I am born in the noble Medicis of Italy Florence. The Italian name Maria デ Medici (Maria de' Medici). Father is the Tuscany grand duke Francesco first. Catherine de メディシス which is mother of 3 last King of Men in the Valois dynasty is a distantly related same tribe.

In 1600, I was fallen in love with at first sight at the age of 27 years old by Henry IV who just divorced ex-wife Marguerite de Valois and married into the French Royal Family. But, it was the marriage of the political tactics that Henry IV did for the dowry of 150,000 pounds because the finance of the country was tight as for this. A ladies' man of Henry IV is famous and is told that there was the lover of 50 throughout a life. In addition to a husband being seldom at home, it is said that the living in the royal palace of Mary who was not able to speak marriage original French was haunted by sense of isolation. Most of the precious dowries have bottomed out after the wasteful habits of Mary not being ordinary, and having purchased a jewel almost every day probably because I changed it.

The viewpoint in the royal palace improves at a stretch by having delivered Louis XIII who is a long-awaited heir in 1601. And I get 5 children elsewhere (it is Spanish Queen King Felipe fourth Isabel, Lord of サヴォイア Vittorio アメデーオ first princess クリスティーヌ, Lord of Orleans Gaston, English King Charles I queen Ann rilletts Mary that grew up). Henry IV was prudent about the dissipation and gave proclamation to give Mary full power of the government when oneself was absent. I regained the love of the husband, and it seemed whether you could live a calm life in the royal palace, but Henry IV was assassinated in 1610 by a fanatic Catholic. Mary will assume heavy responsibility to take Imperial rule in France on as regency of son Louis XIII who inherited the throne.

However, I dismissed a prime minister of Henry IV Era and gave a person named コンチーノ コンチーニ, also known as the General Uncle from Italy an important post as an aide afterwards. Domestic Catholicism and Protestant harmony were planned for Henry IV Era, but Mary protected Catholicism openly and married children off to the House of Hapsburg which should be a political adversary for France and all canceled a politics policy of Henry IV known as the benevolent lord who was considerate of French. This increased the dissatisfaction of son Louis XIII and influential nobles who were gradually awakened to politics. I pressed Mary for States-General holding, and they had it and required reform of the politics.

It was Mary who was gradually driven to a disadvantageous viewpoint, but Cardinal able Richelieu appears on the stage of the politics. Mary was going to appoint it as one's supporter, but son Louis XIII made the first move. In 1617, Louis XIII gave it an order for Blois Castle confinement of assassination of コンチーニ and mother Mary and won Richelieu over to my side as one's aide. Mary got away from the Blois Castle in 1619, and rebel armies rose to action, but they were suppressed with Lord of second son Orleans Gaston soon by the king forces. Mary was reconciled with Louis XIII by an intercession of the Lord Richelieu and was engaged in politics as a member of the royal assembly until 1621.

When Richelieu became a prime minister of Louis XIII and held real power of the politics, Mary began to plan the downfall of Richelieu, but Richelieu was superior then. Mary is ousted from France in 1631 and takes refuge in Brussels. In 1642, I died with a cairn.

24 pieces of repeated cultivation size image by Rubens titled "a life of Maria de' Medici" is displayed in the Louvre. After rebelling against Louis XIII, and having been reconciled with each other, with the work which Mary ordered from Rubens in the case of Luxemburg Palace reconstruction, it is described in the figure which the marriage, the days in the Royal Family likened to mythical God by her birth.
