In the U.S. Army, the "light combat team" design which developed various self-propelled guns using the body of the M24 whippet tank existed. Based on this, a thing developed as a self-propelled gun of the 155mm howitzer deployment is T64E1. I misappropriated the body of T65E1 (trial manufacture type of M19 vs. the empty self-propelled gun) which moved an engine room to the body center, and this car was equipped with 155mm howitzer M1 in the rear. A range of the main battery was 14.9km, and the number of the deployment cannonballs was 22.
Because the prototype was completed in December, 1944, and various tools boxes were damaged in a bomb blast at the time of the firing in the examination, after the placement changes such as a various tools box or the antenna, it was become a regulation as M41 HMC (Howitzer Motor Carriage) on June 28, 1945.
These cars were produced in マッセイ Harris Coup., but 60 cars were simply completed by September, 1945 and were not in time for World War II and were used in the Korean War.
