The island Hospital (しまびょういん) is a former name of the doctor's office in Naka-ku, Hiroshima-shi, Hiroshima. It becomes the island surgery in the 1990s and becomes the island surgery internal medicine after August, 2009. I am known in the center of an explosion of the A-bomb dropped on August 6, 1945.

Summary
I practice medicine in 1933. The clinical department is surgery than those days. I was destroyed, but I was rebuilt in the aforementioned place in 1948 by A-bomb throwing down of 1945.
When I rebuilt a ward in the 1990s, I reduced a bed capacity and became the medical office from a hospital. In addition, on August 1, 2009, a doctor's office name is changed from "island surgery" by "the island surgery department of internal medicine", and some clinical departments are strange, too.
As the center of an explosion in the A-bomb throwing down to Hiroshima-shi, I am listed in the historical materials of each time with "island Hospital" "island surgery", but these hit "island surgery internal medicine" as of all.
Because it was recognized that Little Boy exploded over a hospital by an investigation when an A-bomb (Little Boy) was dropped on August 6, 1945 [1], the aforementioned place is considered to be the center of an explosion.
History
I pr opening of a Diet session, being bombed
The island Hospital opened a Diet session as a surgery hospital at 29-2, Saikumachi, Hiroshima-shi (existing 1, Otemachi, Naka-ku 5-25) on August 31, 1933. It was the hospital of firm brick 2 stories more than wall 1m, the column of both front entrance sides and the modern design characterized by the round window. The first director (the director at the time of the being bombed) is island fragrant (from 1897 to 1977). 薫 was born and raised in the house of the doctor who followed in Nomura (existing Nakano, Aki-ku, Hiroshima-shi) in Aki-gun from generation to generation and graduated from old system Osaka Medical College [2] and opened it after medicine study life in Europe and America in a return, the aforementioned place in Hiroshima. The lecturer of the Osaka empire University medical department (the existing Osaka University medical department) which was reincarnation of Osaka Medical College worked at the time of the opening of business. August 6, 1945
A-bomb "Little Boy" dropped from B-29 "Enola Gay" on August 6, 1945 exploded at sky approximately 600m of the island Hospital southwest side [5]. The hospital completely did serious damage, destruction by fire by a bomb blast and the high heat that occurred by the explosion of the A-bomb, and, as for the inpatient, all the members died instantly with more than 80 staffs. However, I got out of trouble because 薫 and nurse alone of the attendant went to the hospital of the acquaintance in Kabutoyamacho, Sera-gun (existing Sera-cho) for business trip medical treatment (business trip operation) from August 5 of the day before. It knew that the city received crushing destruction by telephone communication, and two people who received a relief request again returned to Hiroshima-shi promptly after having finished an alone operation among three patients, and it did 入市 on the day, but it was shut out in intense flame, and it was afternoon of August 7, the following day that I was able to return to the hospital. Two people who returned detect the corpse which became the bleached bone of a large quantity of number from under debris, and it is said that only the operation tool which there was in the tweeze which remained unburned was the only trace of the island hospital. 薫 engaged in the relief activities of the A-bomb victim including the relief activities of the A-bomb victim with medical material for slight first aid that I brought from the hospital of the acquaintance of Koyama afterwards in relief place and Fukuromachi national elementary school (Fukuromachi elementary school approximately 460m, existing Hiroshima more City than island Hospital) where it was in the open space (from island Hospital approximately 300m still in Hiroshima Chamber of Commerce as for the present in the aforementioned place) in front of the chamber of commerce from the night of August 6 [3].
Postwar period, rebuilding
In 1948 of supplies was rebuilt at wooden mortar 2 stories in the aforementioned place while was poor. It is said that 薫 did not talk about being bombed very much after the war. Island Kazuhide (the eldest son of 薫) who is the current island surgery internal medicine honor director tells, "I only heard the fighting story from mother indirectly". In addition, Kazuhide made evacuation of schoolchildren at the time of atom bomb throwing down in Nishishirocho, Hiba-gun (existing Shobara-shi) and got out of trouble [4]. 薫 leaves the word "given to taking care of the person who is poor if my new hospital is peaceful, a person from poverty したる" [3].
The monument indicating being the center of an explosion is installed in the road of the entrance side of the island surgery internal medicine now.
