William Townsend ray ton

The William Townsend ray ton (William Townsend Aiton, from February 2, 1766 to October 9, 1849) is a British botanist, horticulturist. Following the next of the William ray ton of father, I acted as a director of Royal Botanic Gardens (cue garden).

Brief career history

I was born as the eldest son of the William ray ton for the cue of the Richmond upon Thames London special ward. After having received education in Chizu Wick, camber well, I worked as an assistant to father from 16 years old. I received a high evaluation as a horticulturist and I was employed by many nobles and made gardens. When father died in 1793, following the next of father, I was appointed by a cue and a director of Royal Botanic Gardens of Richmond. I was given an important post by king George III and the Royal Family. After the enthronement of George IV, I redecorated the garden of the royal pavilion of Brighton and the garden of the Windsor Castle. Royal Botanic Gardens performed many changes, too and retired in 1841.

I edited plant catalogue of the cue botanical garden where father edited a first edition from 1810 through 1813, enlarged and revised edition, five volumes of "Hortus Kewensis". I received help for editing of "Hortus Kewensis" continuously from Joseph Bankes and Jonah's ドリュアンデル, and scientific value was raised by Robert Brown of the botanist. One summary version was published in 1814, but was not popular as the first edition.

It was a charter member of association of royal gardening and was active as a member lively. I won a silver medal in an article about the cultivation of the cucumber in 1817.
