The GT series

The GT series

GT (the series) means a vehicle form name of the connecting model streetcar used in Germany. In GT, it is meant GelenkTriebwagen (connecting model self-run possibility car).

  • I am used in plural vehicle makers. (Duewag company or Bremen form (Typ Bremen) vehicle manufacturer)

The form name following "GT" (GT ***) is acquired as follows normally.

  • 4, 6, 8 express the number of the axles of the total of the conjunction car.
  • N, S, M: I express it between gauge. Gauge (Normalspur), S standard in N narrow gauge (Schmalspur) (1,100mm between the gauge), M meter gauge (Meterspur) (1,067mm, 1,000mm between the gauge).
  • ZR: A vehicle available for bidirectional driving (Zweirichtung). In both driver's cabs, I have the door for the visitor on both sides.

For example, the form of the Kumamoto City Transportation Bureau 9700 form train (Bremen form) becomes GT4N-ZR.
