History
It was one of the main waterfronts of the Kobe Port with harbors of the Kobe former settlement south than the Meiji era.
There was an Imperial Villa (Kobe Imperial Villa) of the Imperial Family in the neighboring land after (1886) in 1886, but I am granted and expansion, maintenance is repeated afterwards and reaches it at the present.
It is located on the east side of the Kobe harbor land developed as the new downtown area [1], and it is now in the good place of the view which puts the sea, and looks around a middle breakwater and the fist park in the front [2].
I maintained the movable bridge which Kobe-shi took 180 million yen, and loaded a car onto a ferry and loaned it out in Awaji Ferry Boat, and I bound it together (1991) between Awajishima, Oiso Port from February in 1991 and navigated 5 coming and going for 0-5:00 in the morning, and there was 3,320,000 use in conjunction with Suma Port departure and arrival in (1993) in 1993 [2].
It was transportation of the only community from the city to the Osaka area including the land, and the ship [2] of the flight functioned as a traffic base in the temporariness to the Osaka area that arrived and departed from this quay at the time of at the waterfront which I was able to use just after Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake outbreak of (1995) alone in Kobe-shi in 1995.
However, a user of Awaji Ferry Boat greatly decreased under the influence of an earthquake disaster, and the movable bridge which routes of Awaji Ferry Boat were abolished totally with Akashi Kaikyo Bridge having been inaugurated (1998) in April in 1998 although I regained it to 2,700,000 people in (1997) in 1997, and loaded a car onto a ferry was over for the only use for 7 years [2].
Construction to deepen the depth of the water on the occasion of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake tenth anniversary (2005) in the beginning in 2005 is carried out and is completed in May of the year [1].
The depth of the water was the most shallow, and, in our quay where the coming alongside the pier of ships more than 3,000 tons was difficult, the coming alongside the pier of the big ship was enabled by this construction until construction in a passenger ship terminal in the Kobe Port.
Kobe-shi left a movable bridge in consideration of possibility of the route revival after the route total abolition of Awaji Ferry Boat, but decided to completely remove Kobe-shi in a degree (2012) in 2012, and to utilize ruins as an event open space because a toll of Akashi Kaikyo Bridge had dropped, and possibility of the route revival did 歩消滅 [2].
