Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (おおしまぞうせんじょ) is a Japanese shipbuilding company establishing the head office in Saikai-shi, Nagasaki. I was established (1973) once on February 7 in 1973 by Daizo, Sumitomo Corporation, an investment of Sumitomo Heavy Industries as a result that Oshima-machi that was the island of the coal mine performed a company invitation on the occasion of the closing a mountain of the coal mine [1].

History
Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. started the operation after the establishment of February 7, 1973 (1974) in June in 1974 and sent the first ship off (1975) in February in 1975 [1]. I worked on rationalization under the influence of an oil crisis from the beginning of establishment and reduced an employee to 785 people from 1,800 people to (1979) for 1975 through 1979. As a result, Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. will be specialized in the building of the self-unloader of handy max grade and the パナマックス grade [2].
I construct approximately 400 self-unloaders so far and sell approximately 25 ships a year all over the world [3]. There are sales of 96,585 million yen a year in 2007, and the number of employees is 1,123 people [1].

Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is specialized in the building of the self-unloader. With a lot of standard designs as durability, a deadweight tonnage; and characterized by the self-unloader of the handy size from 33,000 tons to 82,000 tons, handy max, パナマックス grade [5]. The ship for exclusive use of the coal transportation from 86,000 tons to 106,000 tons lasts for a lineup, too [5]. There is the open ship of a model, the semi-opening type of the handy max grade optionally, too [5].
There are three options of the hull, and is one fold of hull, double hull and original Hy-Con (the hybrid hull); [5]. The ship of one fold of hull is applicable to the smallest ship and a maximum ship [5]. The double hull is applicable to a ship of 33,000 tons and a ship from 52,000 tons to 96,000 tons [5]. Hy-Con can apply to 82,000 tons from 52,000 tons [5].
The Hy-Con design was developed to improve the safety of the self-unloader and effectiveness of the freight handling [6]. This design does the ship of one fold of standard hull in front part and rear hold double hull structure for the cause [6].
Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. constructs a lot of other types of ships. In this with the self-unloader with the self-unloader, wood chips carrier, a car cargo boat, an oil tanker, the half diving expression heavy goods cargo boat [4]. A lot of steel structures deal, too, and there are a steel frame, the water gate of a bridge and the building. I started the production of tomatoes at the time of the shipbuilding recession of 1988 in the unused land in the shipyard. I do quantity to give water in a kind called "the first base" where had a sharp lower part to normal approximately a one-tenth, and a cultivation method to raise a sugar content is adopted. Approximately 100 tons a year is shipped by the name of "the Oshima tomato" [9].
