Summary

It was founded (1905) on July 20 in 1905. One of the basic shipyards of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. I am good at the building of the high value-added ships such as containership, submarine, the deep sea diving investigation ship. I consist of this factory in Hyogo-ku, Kobe-shi and Futami factory in Futamicho, Akashi-shi, Mitsubishi Kobe Hospital (Hyogo-ku, Kobe-shi: 230 beds).

New Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (at the time of the start "Naka Nihon heavy industries" [1]) born by the division of old Mitsubishi Heavy Industries by the postwar excessive economic power decentralization law assumed here the head office. A large motor section became independent from (1964), the Kobe shipyard in 1964 and became the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Takasago mill.

In addition, it is the company which Mitsubishi Electric is divided from here, and was established. Therefore an establishment of the company is next to each other now.

It is a characteristic of this shipyard that there is unusually a historic spot in the shipyard in facilities. Cape Wada battery (わだみさきほうだい) is a battery trace in Hyogo-ku, Kobe-shi. At a historic spot of the country designation, I stay in the tip near Cape Wada, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries site. It is completed by a design of Kaishu Katsu (1864 (Motoharu first year)) (Bunkyu three years) in the start of construction, the next year in 1863. It is over without using it for the actual fighting. A reservation is necessary other than a general release to be in the factory.

In addition, is June (2012) 2012, and integrate it with merchant ship building withdrawal, Nagasaki shipyard and the Shimonoseki shipyard, and reorganization plan to let specialize the Kanbe shipyard in submarine building is announced by the Kobe shipyard [2]; [3].
