The action game that NAMCO (existing BANDAI NAMCO entertainment) operated "dragonbuster" (DRAGON BUSTER) for arcade game use by January, 1985. Because, as for the indication called "Copyright 1984" of the title screen, development, a location test was performed in 1984.
I do the brave man who does a trip to defeat the dragon to wait for last of each round with a subject so that "a person exterminating a dragon" who is the literal translation of the title means it. As for the plan for an original arcade, Eiji Sato [2], the programmer are Waku Oba.
There was the title plan of "Dragon Warrior" at the plan stage, too, but the title of "the dragonbuster" became the adoption by a narrow margin [3].
A transplant work including the Family Computer (the following, FC version) business that increased an additional element and the sequel to "dragonbuster II" work were released afterwards.

Game contents
By the action game of the side view (figure judging from the side) method to operate a chief character, a claw screw, the round map indicating the course to the dragon mountain is displayed before the round start and starts from a castle. I can choose the route to the dragon mountain in the player at a turning point, and dungeon varying in a degree of difficulty is prepared for. It becomes Saraji when I clear one dungeon, and it is one round clear when I knock down the dragon of the dragon mountain last. In all Round 12, 9-12 rounds of patterns are repeated from Round 13. In addition, the round indication becomes "GIVE improves" when it is Round 100.
The player looks for an exit to arrive at the dragon mountain while defeating a monster and the monster called "a room girder" lying hidden in the room on the way hanging around a passage in each dungeon. Story
It is a cave and a graveyard and the tower where a forked road and a ferocious demon before arriving lie hidden in on the dragon mountain that waited for the young man "claw screw" of the chief character having an adventure to help princess Seria held hostage to a dragon. The chief character claw screw exits on a dangerous trip to exterminate a dragon to save princess Seria.

for FC
It was released as "the Nam cot Family Computer game series 23rd" in January, 1987. It is for an arcade, and Eiji Sato in charge of a plan acts as a director. The cartridge is golden.
The differences with the arcade version are as follows.
- The algorithm that is basic including a chief character is different.
- The graphic of each character and monster and coloring are different [4].
- The indication of the building of the map mode became small, and a door, the obstacle of the forest were placed. A map grew big from a round on the way, and it came to be less revealed that the route to the dragon mountain did not appear while moving.
- The kinds of the item increased.
- Part of monster which came up was changed.
- A score becomes the experience level, and the physical strength upper limits increase when I reach the constant numerical value.
- Some monsters disappear from the screen top by a room girder and a one-on-one battle.
- Continue is not possible when I do not take the specific item.
- The original character only for FC versions appears.
- BGM is added (a title screen and a lady's maid, Princess Seria rescue.ending).
- There is a bonus piece placed upside down Gonbuster beginning with round 13.
- An operation method is changed and it is for an arcade and it was a jump, but it is for FC and becomes the jump with A button on a lever.
- The dragon of round 12 has a weak point.
- "The crown" which is a princess rescue item is for FC and appears as one of the magic items by the naming called "the crown".
for MSX2
- It releases it as the PC game first [5] for MSX2 on December 19, 1987. It was a screen change method not a scroll screen by specifications of the hardware, but is the contents which can say that it is transplant for Nintendo. All Round 8. The traps such as pincushions were contained with the cave mode in the middle of a passage, too.

Character
- Claw bis(CLOVIS)

- Dragon (DRAGON)
- The huge dragon to wait for last of each round. It becomes the round clear when I defeat it. A dragon hiding behind in 3, 5, 8, 12 rounds is the dragon which carried off Princess Seria. When the septa does not have the crown when I knock down a dragon and recaptured Princess Seria either, the Seria princess is kidnapped to a different dragon, but this time the color of the dragon changes in order of green → purple → money of → blue. I return to green after blue and become the repetition. There are several kinds of patterns to vomit flame, and there are patterns to vomit like 長時間吐 きっぱなしもあれば missile consecutively. There is a part becoming the weak point, but varies according to a round. In addition, it is for an arcade and appears in a sometimes unexploited state and can attack it before waking.
- Bat (BAT)★
- The bat which waits near a ceiling. I sometimes hurl myself towards a claw screw and attack it. The thing of different colors goes down, too, and durability is different.
- Snake (SNAKE)★
- The snake which crawls on the ground, and moves. I sometimes jump and bite. A difference is seen in an attack pattern by a color, and things of red (magenta) jump well in particular.
- Lee pen (LEAPEN)★
- The monster of ピョンピョン and the chick to rush about for. It is unexpectedly difficult to question suddenly if I think that I jumped as far as the sword does not arrive.
- Tess Thor (TESTOLL)
- The monster such as the armadillo. As for the state stretcheding itself, movement is slow, but cannot exterminate the state that curls up, and rushes at high speed with a sword.
- Ino rhinoceros (INOSAII)★
- The rhinoceros which rushes at high speed. It stops suddenly and goes back and turns over. I may run after it obstinately (it is for MSX2, and sound effects do not come out for malfunction).
- Golem (GOLEM)
- The doll which was made from soil. The vitality is made to decrease by around 16 when swatted with a club. The thing of different colors has high durability. Because I am tall, and the hit judgment of the club attack is big, I have a hard fight when I appear in a group, but often decline into a pit by oneself.
- Cave shark (CAVE SHARK)
- I run after it for sharp sense of smell obstinately when I do not escape even if I find an exit and, to the same cave, bite a claw screw for a long time. But as for tending to be constant in a behavior pattern, and bringing about an eternal pattern though it is an eternal pattern prevention character. There is the place that does not come out depending on the shape of the room to attack it only from the lateral direction of screen right and left.
When the enemy monster mentioned above leaves it by the game of Naoko, it is heated without limit and appears, but the pattern does not do what meaning other than the ranking registration substantially in eternity even if I earn a score because there is not the merit (残機増加) in the game progress either.

- Rei Sting (STINGRAY)
- The ray which flies within a hairbreadth of the ground. When there are passages below, I fall. I sometimes jump and bite.
- Because a strange thing and behavior pattern resemble a snake as for what is floating in the air in a cave without the waterside, and inhabit though it is an animal inhabiting underwater, it is for FC, and a spider will appear instead.
- Will オー the ウィスプ (WILL-O-THE-WISP)
- The wicked heart of the monster which continues drifting for an enemy. Of the ball of the block pulling down there is merely the thing which flies straight that make a move.
- Because I could not appear for the circumstances on the system a little too much, I was cut.
- Slime (SLIME)
- A mysterious object floating in the air. I cannot defeat it with the sword and may lose a sword with constant probability when I slash in super SORD.
- The image called "the monster which could do everything to be slime = sword" colonized in "Tower of Druaga" (in 1985 NAMCO) and "Dragon Warrior" (in 1986 Enix) released as a game for Family Computer and was cut.
- Eyeful (EYEFUL)
- A monster having huge eyes to find an enemy in darkness. A jump is longer than Lee pen, and the lateral jump speed is fast again, too.
- Because a behavior pattern resembles Lee pen, it is for FC, and Locke will appear instead.
- Crawler (CRAWLER)
- A huge insect monster (green caterpillar) which finishes life as a larva without receiving solar light. I move about the maze and I sometimes miss the upper part of the body and stretch out a feeler and attack it.
- I appeared in the MSX2 edition, but it was for FC and was cut for a system and circumstances in the capacity.
- Co-Leo crawler (COLEO CRAWLER)
- A golden crawler. I cannot defeat it with a sword. I attack it with a feeler without missing the upper part of the body.
- It was for FC and, as well as a crawler, was cut for a system and circumstances in the capacity.
Only an FC version it
※The character who appeared in an FC version with home-use game console transplant newly. I describe not only the characteristic but also the appearance reason.
- Spider (SPIDER)
- The poisonous spider which grovels on the ceiling in the cave, and advances. I attack it when it approaches.
- Because there were not the fight in the cave becoming Maine and the monster which crawled on the ceiling with an arcade version, I appeared newly as a substitute of Rei Sting.
- シーフ (THIEF)★
- The strange monster which only super SORD steals for a burglar. I hurl myself by quick movement.
- Because the character who stole the abolition and the item of the exclusion possession system of the specific item for an arcade was absent, I appeared newly.
- Lock (ROCK)★
- The first monster which approaches by quick movement in the cave, and goes away. The head produces a pebble and attacks it.
- Because a behavior pattern was the same as Lee pen the eyeful which appeared in the arcade edition, a lock will appear as the first monster of the different pattern.
- Zombie (ZOMBIE)
- The departed soul who crawls out from the ground, and advances by slow movement. I cannot defeat it with the sword.
- The Ann dead monster which the existence of the graveyard seen in a map mode with the arcade version was for FC, and it would appear newly because there was not positioning. I appear in the MSX2 edition.
Room girder
- ファフネル (FAFNIL)
- The ferocious small dragon which I attack by a bodily crash and a flame attack. I emit a flame in the upper slant direction when I jump by the highly advanced round.
- Skeleton (SKELETON)
- The soldier of the skeleton to swing a sword around, and to attack. Fireballs cannot appear to the full.
- Wizard (WIZARD)
- The magician whom I attack in a devil sword and a fireball running around the air. I can flip the devil sword with this sword back, but it is often that I am kicked up by the consecutive attacks of the devil sword in the air. Only a thing in orange clothes can do everything to be a fireball. In addition, I can destroy the attack of the devil sword when there is a shield.
- Bishop (BISHOP)
- The priest whom I hit it axes the long ax for the battle of one offense and defense and attack in a fireball. When the attack of the ax was successful when it is for FC and has a shield, a shield is destroyed.
Only an MSX2 version it
- Knight (KNIGHT)
- A knight in a silver armor. I attack it using an iron ball [6].

- Scroll (SCROLL)

- Capacity of the vitality is 16 added mushrooms. The upper limit to 256. 1,000 points.
- Shield (SHIELD)
- The shield which invalidates the damage of a devil sword and the fireball of the Wizard. But I may lose it with constant probability when I receive a fireball attack. クラウンとは排他所持(どちらかしか持てず、後からとった方のみが有効)となっている。 1,000 points.
- スーパーソード (SUPER SWORD)
- これを取ると剣の威力が2倍になる。 ただし、攻撃の際に1/256の確率で失ってしまう。 また、剣を受け流したり、剣の通用しない敵に斬りつけると1/16の確率で失ってしまう。 セプターとは排他所持となっている。 1,000 points.
- セプター (SCEPTER)
- セリア姫に会った時にドラゴンにさらわれないように出来る杖。 スーパーソードとは排他所持となっている。 1,000 points.
- クラウン (CROWN)
- セプターと同様に、セリア姫に会った時にドラゴンにさらわれないように出来るが、さらにキスをしてもらえる。 また、その時にセプターと共に持っていると、その度にセリア姫の姿がオリジナル(ドレス)→ミニスカート→ビキニと変化し、以後、セプターとクラウンを同時に持っている時だけバニーガールになる。 シールドとは排他所持となっている。 1,000 points.
FC版(アイテム)
マジックアイテム (MAGIC ITEM)
同じマジックアイテムを3個連続で取ることにより、3個目のアイテムで所持数が10個分増える。
- スクロール (SCROLL)
- 通常の剣の一振りと同じ攻撃力のファイアボールを放ち、モンスターに命中すると消滅する。
- スケルトンにはダメージを与えることができない。
- 杖 (WAND)
- ファイアボールの2倍の攻撃力を持つサンダーボルトを放つ。モンスターを貫通し、その奥にいるモンスターにもダメージを与えられる。
- ランプ (LAMP)
- 火柱を次々と吹き上げる攻撃でダメージを与える。攻撃力は単体の火柱がファイアボールの3倍で、ドラゴンなど耐久力のあるモンスターに連続でダメージを与えることができる。
- 火柱を走って追いかけることで、アーケード版でのファイアボールを追いかけるのと同様の戦法が可能。
- アミュレット (AMULET)
- 画面上のモンスターを石化し動きを止める。ただしドラゴンに対しては効果がない。
- リング (RING)
- 地震を呼び起こして画面内のモンスターにダメージを与える。ただし空中に浮いているモンスターには効果がない。
- 攻撃力はファイアボールの4倍。
- 聖杯 (HOLY GRAIL)
- 洞窟の外へ脱出できる。高次ラウンドにはこれがないとクリア出来ない洞窟も存在する。ただしドラゴン山では脱出できない。
- 王冠 (ROYAL CROWN)
- 地震と雷を同時に呼び起こし、画面内のすべてのモンスターにダメージを与える。攻撃力はファイアボールの8倍。
即効アイテム (ITEM)
- ジュエリー (JEWELRY)
- 青と黄色の2種類あり、取ると経験値が加算される。青は50、黄色は100。
- 薬(青)(POTION)
- 取るとバイタリティが30回復。
- 薬(黄色)(POISON)
- 毒薬。バイタリティが20減る。
- キノコ(MUSHROOM)
- バイタリティの容量が16加算される。上限はアーケード版よりも1少ない255。
ユーティリティアイテム (UTILITY ITEM)
- マジックアイテム同様、3個連続取得により3個目が10個分になる。
- シールド (SHIELD)
- 大抵の攻撃ダメージを少なくする盾。ビショップの斧による攻撃で破壊されるが、それ以外の要素で失われる事は無い。
- 鍵 (KEY)
- マップモードの扉を開け、通行を可能にする。
- 斧 (AXE)
- マップモードの森林を伐採し、通行を可能にする。
- 薬草 (MEDICINAL HERB)
- バイタリティが0になったときに自動で128回復する。
- コンパス (COMPASS)
- 持っていると出口の場所の方向を教えてくれる。複数の出口がある場合、その中の一つの方向を示す。
- 水晶 (CRYSTAL)
- マップモードの更地になった場所に虹の橋をかけ、通行を可能にする。
- 日記帳 (DIARY)
- 1冊持っているごとに1回のコンティニューが可能になる。
- スーパーソード (SUPER SWORD)
- これを取ると剣の威力が2倍になる。3本集めるとさらに強力な剣「ウルトラスーパーソード」になり、ゾンビを含めたモンスター(ドラゴンを除く)を一振りで倒せるようになるが、ダメージを50受けるとスーパーソードに戻る。なお、ソードは当時の雑誌などに「スウォード」と書かれていた事もあったが、Wは発音しないので誤った表現である。

裏ドラゴンバスター
FC版では12ラウンドをクリアした後のエンディングでメッセージの下に裏面へのコマンドが表示される。これをタイトル画面で特定のボタンを入力すると、ラウンド13から始まる裏ドラゴンバスターとなる。「裏」は通常モードと比較して、
