周敦頤
周敦頤 (しゅうとんい Chinese Traditional: 周敦頤, a simplified Chinese character: a 周敦 颐; pin sound: Zhōu Dūnyí; Wade type: ) is a Confucianism person of north Soong (July 14, 1073) on Chou Tun-i, 天禧元年 (1017) - 熙寧 June 7, 6. A native place of 道州営道 located in the current Hunan Yongzhou City way prefecture. As for the character, 茂叔, 号 are 濂渓.

Career
I was considered by 朱熹 of father and south Soong of the confucianism studied during the Sung dynasty. Similarly it is said that 程顥, 程頤 which 朱熹 appreciated studied under 周敦頤 in boyhood. I did not attract attention so much during the lifetime, but was given an important position in history of Confucianism because I put 周敦頤 on Confucius, the extension of Mencius in the school of the science theory that 朱熹 presented.
