O-demethyl puromycin-O-methyl transferase (O-demethylpuromycin O-methyltransferase, EC 2.1.1.38) is an enzyme catalyzing the following chemical reactions.
- S-adenosyl-L-methionine + O- demethyl puromycin S- adenosyl-L-homocysteine + puromycin
Therefore, as for the substrate of two of this enzyme, S-adenosyl-L-methionine and O-demethyl puromycin, two products are S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine and puromycin.
This enzyme belongs to the family of the methyl transferase letting a transferase particularly 1 carbon group metastasize. The systematic name is S-adenosyl-L-methionine: It is O-demethyl puromycin O- methyl transferase (S-adenosyl-L-methionine:O-demethylpuromycin O-methyltransferase). This enzyme participates in puromycin biosynthesis.
