備中国窪屋郡倉敷村 (I live and come loss) which prospered as Jinnyacho of the port town, Tokugawa shogunate government territory Kurashiki chief administrator place in the Edo era enforced town organization once.

Summary

I added it to the almost applicable area in the central city area of current Kurashiki-shi, Okayama and had jurisdiction over a range including current city Kouyama and Nitta.

Kurashiki-mura that became a forerunner was old and was the port town that there was in the hill which continued now from Kasuyama which there was in the sea area called the sea of Achi equal to the western part of the hole sea of Kibi and the islands where it was. It becomes the base of the traffic marine than early time and is appointed in 加子浦. There is the record that I worked for a position of Bunroku, the Keicho era for in rice paid as a tax, the revolt of Shimabara where is at the beginning of the early modern times with boatman silver in 浦手御用 [2].

In last years of Middle Ages, Hideie Ukita gives Toshikatsu Oka of the vassal an order, and it becomes not separated by water, and Kurashiki-mura becomes the river Port in the canal by having reclaimed the sea of Achi. A reclamation is carried out sequentially in the early modern times, and, in the neighborhood whole area, it is in plains, and, in the canal, it is in Shioiri river;, in Kurashiki-mura,; most of upper reaches (the current Kurashiki River); [2].

It is at the beginning of the early modern times and, as an outport of Bicchu Matsuyama, prospers as a collection and distribution base of supplies. In addition, the business trip encampment is built, too and develops as Jinnyacho. It became the Imperial demesne (Shogunate government controlled area) after the territory change of several degrees, and a Kurashiki chief administrator place was installed afterwards for Enkyo era three years [2].

When it is the Meiji era, it becomes the jurisdiction of the Kurashiki prefecture and becomes the prefectural seat. The jurisdiction changes afterwards in Okayama via Oda prefecture (Fukatsu prefecture). In 1876, I annex the enclave of Edamura of Kouyama or Nitta in the southern part of village and neighboring villages. 窪屋郡役所 is established in a village in the next year. Town organization takes effect in 1887 and is renamed to Kurashiki-cho. Position spread by county unification in Tsukubo-gun for 33 years [2].

3 local governments of Kurashikicho, Tsukubo-gun, extreme longevity village, Odaka-mura merge equally in 1927 and found new Kurashiki-cho. Municipal organization takes effect for three years, the following day and becomes Kurashiki-shi (former) and I gradually admit municipalities around のち and am complicated, and three cities of Kurashiki, Tamashima, Kojima are complicated in 1967 and they found new Kurashiki-shi and reach it at the present [2].
