As for Schweinfurth (Schweinfurt), in northern state German Bayern; is the county independence city in the terflanken precinct yes. A population of 53,247 people (2011). 30km of ヴュルツブルク is in the northeast, the right bank of the Main. I can interpret the name as "the pass of the pig" in modern German, but it is said that the real etymology is different.

History

I appeared for the record in the eighth century. Industry developed in the 19th century and played a key role of the ball bearing production in Germany in particular. I received an air raid of the Allied Forces for this in World War II and caused a large number of victims.

Businessman George Sheaffer which made a fortune was known for a ball bearing as an art collector, and George Sheaffer art museum was established here in 2000 by collection of him.
