The lofty building where the yellow crane tower (it is like that or has a hard time a simplified Chinese character: a yellow 鹤 tower, a 拼 sound: Huáng HèLóu) ever existed in current People's Republic of China Wuhan City Wuchang District. There is the lofty building which was almost rebuilt at the position now. It is Wuhan first-rate excellent scenic spot and is one of "the Konan three daimyo tower" of China.

The name is known in "a yellow crane tower" of 崔顥 as soon as representative Chinese poetry of Li Bo "sends 之 くを to Koryo of 孟浩然 in a yellow crane tower".

For 223 years of the Age of Three Powers, it was built as a watchtower of military purposes by Sun Ch'uan of Kure, but became the sightseeing objective lofty building mainly later. I write down the grand state of the lofty building for the 閻伯瑾 "yellow crane tower note" written in 永泰元年 (765 years) of Tang [¹].

In the yellow crane tower, destruction by fire and the rebuilding were repeated many times. After I was lost in a fire of (1884) for light cord ten years of 清, a fire watchtower seemed to be built, but was demolished for construction of Wuhan Chang Jiang Ohashi in 1955 [²].

The correction of this knob is expected.

Tradition

The following tradition remains in the yellow crane tower.

There was the liquor shop of the person called 辛氏 in old days. A hermit dressed poor there comes over, and it is said that I want you to give it liquor. 辛氏 did not do one unpleasant face and gave it liquor free of charge, and it continued for half a year. One day the Buddhist priest said, "drinking money collected, but there is not money" towards 辛氏 and I described a yellow crane in the skin of mandarin orange and left for the wall of the shop instead. When a visitor beat time with the hands and sang, the crane of the wall danced to it. It became the reputation, and a shop propered, and 辛氏 built millions wealth.

A hermit appeared in the shop again, and a yellow crane got away from the wall afterwards when I played a flute. The hermit flew away on white cloud on the back.

辛氏 builds the lofty building in commemoration of this, and it is said that I named a yellow crane tower.

Current yellow crane tower

The current yellow crane tower was rebuilt in reference to a figure at the time of the 19th century in 1985, and the height is approximately 51.4 meters.

I am maintained as a sightseeing spot with a snake mountain. General 80 yuan, student need admission of 40 yuan, and it is necessary to pay in 券売所 of the yellow crane tower district entrance to enter in the site of the yellow crane tower. (as of May, 2012)

There is an open space in front of a yellow crane tower when I enter it in a site, and a tourist taking a ceremonial photograph here attracts attention. The entrance to a yellow crane tower is on the right side when I advance a little and can enter the lofty building via a hand-operated wicket. It can rise to the fifth floor of the top floor on stairs. In addition, the elevator (extra charge) is installed, too. There is the exhibit which I did including a room and the artworks which reproduced the beginning of building in the lofty building and it is Japanese and can hear a commentary and guidance with an unmanned guidance machine. A souvenir shop, the break space are added, too.
