Association of South Seas

Association of South Seas (なんようきょうかい) is a group formed for the purpose of (1915), the research of the South Sea Islands, research and development of the Southeast Asia region in 1915. It was the national policy foundation under the colonial policy of Great Japanese Empire and was the base-like existence of the so-called southing theory.

Summary

A promoter foundation general meeting is held (1915) in Tsukiji Seiyoken on January 30 for 1,915 years. Taiwanese governor-general's office civil governor, Kakichi Uchida represents a founder, and Renpei Kondo (baron) reports conventional progress for chairperson. "I researched the circumstances of the South Seas widely and I had and tried for development of 南洋利源 and got the promoter of the celebrity approximately more than 70 name of Asano as an opinion in increasing public welfare of this side and that race". I establish the foundation office at one time for convenience in a Taiwanese governor-general's office branch office. I started Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Celebes, the Malay Peninsula, development of the Philippine Islands. It is the following faces to have become a foundation promoter.

It was a group with the relations that were close to a Taiwanese governor-general's office at first, but there was the death of Shinpei Goto of (1929) in 1929 and received 50,000 yen as "culture regular economy work" from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1938 and Ministry of Foreign Affairs utilized South Seas association and promoted south policy, and the South Seas association changed from the organization of "the semi-governmental management" at the beginning of establishment into "national policy cooperant". I held "South Seas economy round-table conference" in September, 1939 and had a branch office in Southeast Asia under the colony of Japan and each place. Association of South Seas of the Japanese own country was in charge of the entrance examination office work of "Institute of South Seas" in charge of Japanese education locally, and South Seas association west Mitsugu branch office was in charge of the general affairs of the academy in Saigon and the accounts-like work.

Reincarnation: Association of Asia, South Seas

Activity was delayed for a long time after the Pacific War (Greater East Asia War), but Nozomu Saruhashi started administration by the introduction of the acquaintance and reorganized it in "a cross-cultural communication foundation" from association of South Seas in 1999. I shift to the administration by the member independent of NOVA in 2008 and I am renamed to "association of Asia, South Seas" more afterwards and reach it at the present. On the association homepage, I write down association of South Seas with "a forerunner".
