The first water for the New Year

The first water for the New Year (わかみず) referred to the cause of the water which I conformed to to the Emperor from 主水司 of the Imperial Court on a day of the beginning of spring in ancient times. I will point to offering it in the household Shinto altar taking water into account from water [1], a well to begin it later in the morning of New Year's Day, and to draw up. Heart Ms., the place to call Asamizu exist with the first water for the New Year.

After being believed that the first water for the New Year removes malarial air, and having offered it in the household Shinto altar, is the water; of a votive offering and the family to a god controlling a zodiacal year prepared meals, and gargled with a mouth, and put up tea.

I went to draw it before I still met a person in the early morning of New Year's Day and was a tradition not to speak to even if I met a person. It was considered to be a duty of Toshio to draw the first water for the New Year, and the woman of the house drew it. When I drew the first water for the New Year, I cried out lucky words including "I draw golden water".

The young water drawer does not let a woman touch it as a role of man really in the Kimitsu district. As for the Bon Festival, a man should do the cooking from the young water drawer of New Year's Day to on 3 ヵ day or a day in the First Day of Hare to be said to be the role of man for woman, New Year holidays, and there were many places that prevented a woman from touching the water.
