Kurushima Castle (くるしまじょう) is a castle in Kurushima of the Hashihama, Imabari-shi, Ehime offing of Japan (island castle). One of the bases of Murakami water forces.

Summary

It is a castle in the bridge Kuo-type Middle Ages of one line of north and south that spread out to north and south approximately 220m, East-West approximately 40m in the castle which made the Kurushima whole land of neighborhood approximately 1km water forces fortress. A main enclosure is in the most northern part, and two ノ-maru, Sannomaru spreads out to the south. There is a castle of Mr. Kurushima in the island central part right under the main enclosure. In addition, a stronghold exists to the southeast of the island, and a lot of former pier pillar traces remain on the reef around the island.

The construction of a castle is thought to be the mid-15th century. When third son Yoshifusa of 村上義顕 established a branch family to Kurushima, I got it. Kurushima Murakami (Mr. Mr. Hisadome Island, Kurushima) of the Yoshifusa descendant based on the Kurushima Castle for 6s approximately 160 years (it was the castle as the wartime bastion, and there was the house of the time of peace in 波方浦 of the opposite bank).

Because (1582), Mr. Kurushima arrived at the Nobunaga Oda side from Kawano for Tensho era ten years, I received an attack by Mori and Kawano and escaped to authority of Murakami (Kurushima) Hideyoshi Hashiba whom there was all-out in the Bicchu country. The Kurushima return of Mr. Kurushima is a result of the reconciliation of Hideyoshi and Mori in (1584) for Tensho era 12 years after the Honnoji-Temple Incident. 通総 attacked Iyo in the Shikoku conquest as a van, and 通総 was given Kazahaya county 14,000 stone from Hideyoshi afterwards.

After the Battle of Sekigahara, Nagachika Kurushima who belonged to the west military forfeited feudal tenure. Mr. Kurushima returned to a daimyo later in Bungo country Kusu-gun forest, but I did not return to Kurushima, and, in the Kurushima Castle, it was an abandoned castle.
