Manchester (USS Manchester, CL-83) is a light cruiser of U.S. Navy. One ship of the Cleveland grade light cruiser. The name of a warship is associated with New Hampshire Manchester.

Warship career

Manchester started work at Bethlehem Steel of Massachusetts Quincy, a forehand river shipyard on September 25, 1944 and named it it by the Ernest J グラドゥ wife on March 5, 1946, and the conduct bottom of the captain Peter G Hale colonel was placed on duty on launching, October 29, 1946.

The United Nations adopted "an impeachment resolution in North Korea" on June 27.

I came into dock in San Francisco, and there was Manchester in the middle of overhaul in those days. The work was pushed forward at a fast pace and sailed for the west Pacific on August 1. Manchester arrived at Sasebo in the beginning of September and I joined the 77th duty corps and blockaded bombardment from a warship, the coast reconnaissance as support to the United Nations forces Airlines corps in the Yellow Sea. On September 15, Manchester was in charge of heat support in Inchon landing operation. After Inchon and the security of the supply line between Seoul, I performed bombardment to Tungsan Got where Northern forces were concentrated, and a carrier-based plane destroyed a pike of pot Tsu on September 27. Manchester left Korea for Yokosuka on July 23. The agreement of the truce was concluded in Panmunjeom on 27th, and Manchester left for the home port on 28th. Manchester completes 3 degrees battle cruise by the Korean War, and there was not the thing suffering big damage.

Manchester performed 6-month deployment twice from 1954 through 55 in the western part of Pacific in the United States Seventh Fleet. Manchester engaged in "Operation Glory" (duty to carry 50 unidentified Americans who died by the Korean War to Hawaii) at a voyage of last returning home. It left Yokosuka on January 20, 1956 and went to Long Beach after anchorage for courtesy in Pearl Harbor and arrived on February 5. It sails for San Francisco, and a reserve duty fleet enters it at the end of February on 27th. I retired on June 27 and removed from a register on April 1, 1960 and was sold to Nicolai ジョフェ company afterwards on October 31.

Manchester was presented with nine war stars in meritorious services in war of the Korean War. Laurence Hugh Frost who acted as director at National Security Agency later under the Kennedy Administration during a period of the Korean War commanded a warship as the captain.
