With 試製四式重迫撃砲 (dove) (しせいよんしきじゅうはくげきほう), it is 試作自走重迫撃砲 of Imperial Army. I was developed for (= Imperial reign 2,604 years) in 1944 of the last years of World War II, but did not lead to adoption.

Summary

The army planned the self-run trench mortar which carried three sets of 30cm trench mortars which was just made a regulation from 1943 through 1944. 四式中型装軌貨車 was used for the number of cars of the new self-run trench mortar named a concealment name "dove", and 4 輌 was produced experimentally. The practical use examination of the dove car was conducted from 1944 through 1945 in a military academy, but it is at the end of the war before it is become a force, and there was not the thing participating in the actual fighting.

As for three sets of 30cm trench mortars, 3,145m, the weight of the cannonball had a maximum range of 170 kg. The weight of the gun barrel was nearly 1.5t, and the elevation angle of the gun barrel was constant at 50 degrees because it was very difficult to control this. The change of the range was carried out by adjustment of the quantity of ammunition.

Because the army succeeded in practical use of 噴進砲 (rocket launcher) for development and the same period of the dove car, as for the dove car inferior to 噴進砲 with a cost side, an operational aspect, existence was doubted. In addition, a fault such as having to produce exclusive supply vehicles to use a large cannonball existed. In addition, it was not arranged in large quantities by material shortage.

Structure

砲 accounted for the most of the body latter half. At the time of movement, 砲 took the service posture. A guide rail was established in the loading department of the body latter half, and a pedestal of 砲 performed slide of this top and moved 砲 to take a service posture and the shooting posture. Because it is a large diameter gun of 30cm, 給弾 is remarkably difficult with the human power. It was necessary 揚弾機 and a loading machine to lift the high-explosive projectile of 170 kg of quantity of bullet to a muzzle of number of the height m smoothly. I surround a high-explosive projectile and lift up 揚弾機. In the top surface of the trench mortar, a guide rail was established from the stern to 砲前面 and a high-explosive projectile was supported by this guide and was done 揚弾. As for the high-explosive projectile made 揚弾, muzzle and 揚弾機 were moved to the upper bottom movable loading machine to do in a swing type by gear operation, and it was done 装弾 by a muzzle. The loading machine was achieved at the time of the shooting to 揚弾位置.

The direction candlepower of 砲 is right and left for each 3.5 degrees. Because it is a trench mortar, there is not the life ring. However, I was equipped with by 駐退器 and return seat container two symmetrically to begin to shoot a high-explosive projectile of the large weight with muzzle velocity 189.3m/s. As for the operation, the water pressure, a return seat depend on water, atmospheric pressure 駐退. I was not able to switch movement and the shooting direction of the rapid shooting position to fix a floor board of 砲 with a ground fishing stationed-in-plow.

In spite of being the winged-bullet which did not have a gyro effect, the trajectory properties of the high-explosive projectile were almost good.
