Japanese National Railways ED53 form electric locomotive

Japanese National Railways ED53 form electric locomotive

ED533

The ED53 form is an electric locomotive for the direct current which the Ministry of Railways which is a forerunner of the Japanese National Railways (Japanese National Railways) imported.

In this clause, I describe the ED19 form which is the locomotive which I remodeled these procedures into in addition.

Summary

Six cars were prepared by a collaboration of American Westinghouse Electric Corp. (Westinghouse Electric/ electricity part) and Baldwin Corporation (Baldwin/ machine part) in (1926) in 1926 for Tokaido Main Line Tokyo - Kozu intervals.

The beginning of production called itself 6010 form (6010-6015), but a form number was checked in ED53 form (ED531 -6) (1928) in 1928 by the revision of vehicle form title official regulations of October.

With the electric locomotive for the passenger train having last ring of 1 axis, there is a deck in front and behind the box-shaped body. A sweepback is added to the front and becomes three fold wife, and a sander is established under the front window. On the roof, two pantographs are installed. The EF51 form made in the same maker stretched these procedures, and should say with the brothers form.

The electric equipment instrumentation is gathered up by steady technique and I adopt an electromagnetic air unit switch type and equip the main controller with a high speed breaker. These procedures have good use results, too and are referred to even if I face the EF52 form development which is the first large domestic electric locomotive and have a technical influence up to postwar EF58 form.

I received high reliability, and the third unit was appointed as the spare plane, and the first unit and the second unit gave the side or the sash of the body decoration for Imperial train traction, and a telephone for the communication with the Royal carriage was installed in the cab [1]. In addition, it was managed in double-header from the viewpoint of prevention of trouble at the time of the driving of the Imperial train by all means.

The beginning of import located it in the storage of Kozu engine, and it was storage of all car Tokyo engines (renamed to the Tokyo engine department in 1936) assignment by (1930) for the next 1,930 years and pulled local train of the formation with the スハ 32 system passenger car called the Shonan train mainly between between Tokyo - Kozu and Kozu - Atami called Atami line and opened Numazu and Made Ito use range after the Ito Line opening of business of (1935) more in Tanna tunnel opening to traffic, 1935 of (1934) in 1934, but, as for the remodeling, the first unit and the second unit, it was about time when it (1938) in 1938, and, as for the 3-6 machine, designation of the Imperial train traction was canceled sequentially from (1937) in 1937 to ED19 form, and the decoration of the body was removed [2].

Remodeling to ED19 form

Senzan Line is the opening to traffic between Sakunami - Yamadera in (1937) for 1,937 years; all; let you go through, but this section was electrified in response to the tall and stout Sennyama tunnel passage more at first. An ED53 form 3-6 machine would be allotted to Senzan Line use, and, with this, the following remodeling was enforced in Omiya factory (current Omiya synthesis vehicle center).

  • It is increased the increase (2.72 → 4.47) of the gear ratio and the resistor capacity for the use in the mountains section
  • Because an operational section is a cold district, I remodel the addition of the Snow plow others cold-resistant snow equipment-resistant
  • I remove the sander under the driver's cab window and remodel sander installation, the sander of the canonical form-saving and the speedometer which I interfered into the cart
  • I change the louver shape of the body side lower part to the canonical form-saving (as for the 1.2 machine, as for the equal model, the 3.4 machine, length equals it a model)
  • I remove the electrical heating facilities to the passenger car which I used for Tokaido Main Line Era
  • I change a pantograph made of Baldwin for domestic PS10 form (after 1938 enforcement)

I transferred a census register after the changing of a name in ED19 form (ED191 -4) after remodeling in the Sakunami engine department. I transferred a census register in the Kofu engine department in (1940) in 1940, and the ED53 form first unit and the second unit managed sequentially in Tokyo engine department were remodeled into the ED19 form (ED195, 6) in (1941) in 1941, but the addition of the cold-proof put for the ED191 - fourth unit vs. the snow equipment was used for the simplification, the sander and the side louver by Minobu Line as non-remodeling [3].

The first unit transferred a census register in 西国立機関支区 all over the wartime and pulled a freight train of Nanbu Line, and the second unit and the 4-6 machine transferred a census register in the Toyohashi engine department, and they were used for the traction of the freight train of Iida Line. Transfer of a census register, all cars except the first unit came to be applied by Iida Line (1948) to Toyohashi in 1948 when the third unit which transferred a census register was after the war by the Kofu engine department.

Body repair was carried out after the war, and the fifth unit and the sixth unit that a sander was non-remodeling removed the sander under the driver's cab window, and the fifth unit was updated on the body of all welding structure more and gave off conspicuousness with the shape of a side window and the louver. In addition, it varied in an equipment for pantograph position because the second unit received repair work including an internal apparatus ahead of other planes. In addition, a window of the front part of driver's cab updated the 3-6 machine in a form with r in the corner, and, as for the lateral louver, a 1-4 machine was changed by an equal model, and, as for the form in the last, it was 6 car 6 [4].

The degree that had become basic, and was structural of the Japanese National Railways form electric locomotive having been compatible as for the apparatus because was able to find a spare by EF51-shaped junk car, most of continued using a thing of Westinghouse to a junk car, but postwar, only the second unit receives equipment remodeling, and check the voltage of the control power supply to 100V from 32V, and update it to a domestic production apparatus.

6 satisfactory to both sides cars gathered from a relatively lightweight thing in the Matsushima, Ina engine department after the 30s of the Showa era, and orbit structure was applied by freight train traction in the Iida Line Iida north that was a low standard, but all planes became the junk car with substitute machine ED62-shaped injection by (1976) in 1976.

Preservation

ED19 1 (old ED53 3) (Minowa-machi, Nagano folk museum)

ED19 1 remodeled by ED53 3, it is stored the only static condition in front of a folk museum of Minowa-machi, Kamiina-gun, Nagano. I dismantled it and was disposed all after a junk car other than it.
