The American film that "Brooklyn bystreet" (ぶるっくりんよこちょう, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn) was shown in 1945. I assume the full-length novel of the autobiography of dramatist Betty Smith who drew a figure of the poor family living in the downtown area of New York the original. It is the first long piece work by director Elia Kazan. The title in Japanese at the time of the theater exhibition in Japan "Brooklyn alley" [1].
Academy Actor in a Supporting Role Award, Peggy Ann Garner won academy child actor Prize (Academy Juvenile Award) James Dan.
Story
New York Brooklyn of about 1900. There are daughter franc sea which is wise for housewife Katie no runs to live in the cheap apartment and naughty son knee Lee. Johnny of the husband is a cheerful entertainer gentle at heart, but have only a dream; and bookmaking んだくれである which there is not at all of the vital energy.
