The perception so straits

The straits where the perception so straits (perception so worth today, Strait of Canso, Gut of Canso, Canso Strait) are located in the eastern part of Canada. I separate Cape Breton Island from the Nova Scotia mainland. Along with Strait of Belle Isle, the Cabot straits, it is one of the important routes appearing in the Atlantic from the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

It is said that the word "perception so" is here from "カムソク" (kamsok) meaning "the opposite bank of the rising cliff" by the words of the indigenous people Mick Mac group (Mi'kmaq).

Summary

The straits are slim, and length is 27km, but the width has only 1km in an average of 3km, the smallest place. Although it is small, the depth of the water is deep, and there is it approximately 200 feet (approximately 60m). Two local governments are at the both ends. In a port town belonging to Nova Scotia as for both, in the east side, port Hawks berry (Port Hawkesbury), the west are マルグレーブ (Mulgrave).

In 1955, I filled up the straits of 65m in depth, and a Coe way (marine road), a perception so Coe way (Canso Causeway) to join together between Nova Scotia Peninsula and Cape Breton Island were built. A road and a railroad were established on the Coe way representing the S-curve at 1,385m in length. In addition, a canal, a perception so canal of 24m in width was secured at the Coe way east end to secure the route of the big ship. It is one standard of the ship via the St. Lawrence sea route where the size of this canal links the Atlantic to the Five Lakes (sea way max).
