Junzo Matsumura (Matsumura order elephant, June 26, 1842 (Tenpo era May 18, 13) - January 7, 1919) is an officer of the Japanese Navy. The last rank is vice-admiralty. Baron。 As for the former name, Masatoku Ichiki, the assumed name are Ichimura perception Juro. のち Matsumura and a change of the family name.

Career

I am born as Satsuma clansman, a son of the Ichiki one soldier of the Imperial Guard. In 1865, I go over to the U.K. as Satsuma feudal clan first U.K. foreign student and move to the United States two years later. I learn in London University, American Rutgers University and, in May, 1873, graduate from Annapolis Naval Academy and return home in November of the year.

In December, 1873, I appoint a commander. After navy military science dormitory attendance, business trip in the U.K., Department of the Navy this ministry attendance, it became the Mayor of Naval Academy in August, 1876 and introduced the education method of the Annapolis naval academy which learned by oneself. I became the principal three times and contributed to development of the sailor education afterwards.

Through the "Tsukuba" captain, the "Fuso" captain, it is promoted in June, 1882 by a rear admiral. I successively held commodores of Principal sailor and, in July, 1891, I became vice-admiralty and was admitted into reserve duty and it was in the second reserve [1] and retired on November 10, 1910 on November 10, 1905 [2]. In May, 1887, a creation did the title of the baron and became the nobility.

A bronze statue is built in (1982), the Kagoshima Chuo station square east exit open space as one of the image "group [3] of young Satsuma" of 17 Satsuma feudal clan U.K. foreign students whom Shinya Nakamura of the sculptor produced in 1982.
