Vinta black

Vinta black

The vinta black which was coated by aluminum foil

Vinta black (Vantablack) is the known blackest matter absorbing up to 99.965% of the visible light to be comprised of a nanotube [1] [2]. I consist of the forests of the perpendicular tube performing "growth". When light is the vinta black, I do not bounce it and arrest you and let the tube refract many times, and it is finally for heat.

Etymology

I take an initial of Vertically Aligned NanoTube Arrays (sequence of the nanotube displayed perpendicularly) [3].

Development

The early development was pushed forward by the British National Physical Laboratory [4], but the word VANTA was not born these days [5]. Development is pushed forward now in Surrey NanoSystems [6].

Applied

To this material with various application such as the performance enhancements of prevention of stray light and the infrared camera of the telescope [6].

I explain the Ben Gen sen that is CTO of Surrey NanoSystems as follows [6].

For example, this material is to improve the sensitivity of the telescope, and the light of the far-off dim star is arrested. In addition, for very low reflectance, I improve ground and outer space, the sensitivity of the atmospheric apparatus.

In addition, vinta black is to use it as material of the collecting model power generation by solar heat and can enhance absorption of the heat. In addition, by the military affairs, there is application such as the heat camouflage. Emittance and extensibility of the vinta black enable wide application.

Anish Kapoor of the artist uses this material for creation [7].

Improvement from an existing material

The vinta black becomes the improvement of the material developed so far. The charcoal reflects back 4% of incident radiations. The known material which secondly absorbs emission absorbs all light except 0.04%, but the vinta black absorbs all light except 0.035%. In addition, this new material is formed at 400 degrees Celsius. National Aeronautics and Space Administration develops a similar material, but the growth temperature is 750 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the top of the material not able to tolerate a high temperature can bring up the vinta black [1].

There are few deflation and particle descents of the vinta black. Because former similar material had many these, commercialization has been disturbed. In addition, the vinta black is superior in vibration tolerance and the heat resistance, too [3].
