Tunhuang cave temple (novel)

"Tunhuang cave temple" (とんこう) is a historical novel of Yasushi Inoue. A first edition, the current version reprint it at a new tide library in Kodansha.

I assume the origin of Tunhuang cave temple documents discovered in Mogao Caves in history the subject. I was considered to be the masterpiece of a series of "Western Regions novels" of Inoue and, in 1960, won art Prize by this product and "tower orchid" every day.

Outline

I did times, 主人公趙行徳 of north Soong for capital opening a letter to take finals trial of the employment examination for government officials. However, Gyotoku dozes off in the waiting time of the examination and fails in examination.

One woman was sold as "meat" when I wandered in the town of the opening a letter because of too much a sense of let-down without a place to go. It is said that it is the woman who committed unchastity. Gyotoku unable to remain indifferent to a woman being killed decided "to buy it" without murdering a woman. The woman who had a narrow escape thanks to Gyotoku carries one piece of scrap of cloth. The letter which I had not read was written there. It is said that it is a letter of Hsihsia. Gyotoku wanted to learn a character of Hsihsia and was from trip horn to the Western Regions….

Movie

From first edition publication of the filmization found each other easy to talk to, but there was the problem of the location, too, and was difficult. Via a long-term local location, I was filmized by director Junnya Sato, Daiei Motion Picture production, Toho distribution in 1988.
