TsAGI (ツアギ) is a research institute about the aeronautical engineering of the Russian Federation. I have the history to continue from Soviet Union Era. TsAGI from Roman letters transcription Tsentralnyj Aerogidrodinamicheskij Institut of abbreviated designation ЦАГИ of Russian name Центра́льныйаэрогидродинами́ческийинститу́т. There is having many kinds for the notation in Japanese, but is called "central fluid mechanics laboratory" or "central aviation fluid mechanics laboratory" mainly.

There were "NASA for Russia" and the direction to do, but the to the last purpose did not have the production, the development talent of the plane only in a study unlike NASA. But there is the example developing jointly with the old design station to some extent now.

History

TsAGI was established in Moscow by Nicolai ジュコーフスキー called "father of the aviation world in Russia" even today on December 1, 1918 and moved to current Moscow ジュコーフスキー in 1935. The original facilities scale was not many big things and was only existence of the motley crew degree of aviation engineers, but it was important, and intensification of the Cold War with the United States of America invited increase of the investment in TsAGI with the speedup of the plane and the hydrodynamic development with it again.

As a result, TsAGI is said to be world's largest fluid mechanics laboratory now. In fact, I come to occupy the important position in a world study today in the world's largest wind tunnel experimental device being installed in TsAGI, and deciding the shape of the Soviet warplane and spaceship for the Cold War period.

Main result

As result of TsAGI, I am made mainly for the Cold War period, and the point that decided the shape of the plane which gave a big menace in the west is big. In addition, I had a big influence on the shape decision of the Energia rocket which came up in last years of Cold War and the buran space shuttle.

What a MiG-21 of the Mig design station and Su-9 and a MiG-29 of the Sukhoi design station and a shape of Su-27 closely resemble, for example, as concrete content very much is because the hydrodynamic data which were used when it produces these were the things of the TsAGI offer with both designs station. I am told that TsAGI produced the Aussie wings used for Tu-144 supersonic transport elsewhere.
