Summary

It is a Western-style building built in Oura Catholic Church site as the school building of the Prince Nagasaki religion theological college established for the purpose of Japanese Catholic priest upbringing by document issued in compliance with a provincial governor's will c.m. Bernard プティジャン (Bernard-Thadée Petitjean) of Christianity (Catholicism) out of Paris and the lodgings in (1875) in 1875.

The designer was the first full-scale building work in his Japan in the same way in mark Mary de ロ (Marc Marie de Rotz) of the document issued in compliance with a provincial governor's will c.m. out of Paris, and it was said that the large size West architecture for 20 meters in total length in the Meiji early days was extremely valuable again and was appointed to the important cultural property of the country (1972) on May 15 in 1972. In addition, it is in one of the cultural assets constituting "church group of Nagasaki and the Christianity-related inheritance" that a publication was fixed at to a world heritage (cultural heritage) provisional list of UNESCO in (2007) in 2007.

Catholic Joji Nagasaki parish owns it and is shown now as a Christian reference library.
