Masashi Minato

Masashi Minato (all and Masafumi, March 20, 1966 -) is a Japanese drummer. It was belonging to Minato and, in old members of DEAD END, was active according to the custom in the band for the DEAD END era. I move from birth, 13 years old to Sapporo in Tokyo. The blood type is O-type. Father is Takao Minato of the jazz pianist.

Origin

  • I get close to various musical instruments such as piano trumpet flutes from childhood and begin a drum with 14 years old.
  • I stretch out the arm as the drummer for the music sense that I cultivated steadily till then and develop activity in Sapporo in the days of the high school student afterward. It became the topic nationwide above all in those days to have joined well- known heavy metal band "SABER TIGER" with 17-year-old youth. I form "RED" of the progressive hard rock band and am active for several years, but I withdraw and go to Tokyo afterwards.
  • I receive an audition of "DEAD END" at the age of 21 years old and, after Kamigyo, join the band. I achieve a major debut (by the later story, I passed an audition, but it was too positive in those days, and there was not it). I form the main shaft of the band with cymbals' way of judging that is length and breadth and unique mechanical and a sharp style.
  • I withdraw from DEAD END by a live of January 20, 1990 last (I am active, and the band stops this as an opportunity and is dissolved in November of the year). I participate in the goat intellect words & Akabane orchestra as an original member from February of the year.
  • I enlarge the place of the activity as a studio musician while being active as a drummer of many bands and am the one of the session drummer representing Japan now afterwards.
  • On the other hand, I play with the people such as 石渡明廣, Takeharu Hayakawa, Eiichi Hayashi with richness much in a session career of the free jazz.

Drum-style

  • Drum-style in the days of DEAD END is apt to be taken up, but greatly remodel the form for late 20s (by person); "control useless power as much as possible, and change into a thing to swing down an arm like a whip in the full power flexibly".
  • I establish a model (a snare of the high tuning and large-diameter bass drum, タム one point, フロアタム 1-2 points, crash cymbal 1-2 points, splashing cymbals, large-diameter ride cymbals) of the current setting in the days of "SABER TIGER" and "RED". The thing which removed splashing cymbals from these became Maine, but two timpani was incorporated on the tour of Tamio Okuda of 2008 now.
