Ikuko Fujiwara

Ikuko Fujiwara (and I go cat (drinking Fujiwara on), Kyuan era two years (1146) - Shoan era August 15, 3 on (September 23, 1173) ^[1]) is a queen consort of the last years of Heian era. An honorific term for empress, for dowager empress, for grand-dowager empress of the Emperor Nijo, a step mother of the Emperor Rokujo.

The family name Fujiwara, the first name Kyoko [²]. About the father, there is a two theory of 法性寺関白忠通 [⁴] of virtue cathedral Minister of the Left true ability [³] and the regent and the chief adviser to the Emperor style of 閑院流. The former assumes Ikuko the adopted child of the adopted daughter, brother-in-law group fruit of true daughter, 忠通 of the true ability and does the latter when it was to an adopted child of 異母兄基実 as the princess of the Dragon Palace of 忠通 (the second daughter of 忠通 to inherit in 皇嘉門院). For historical materials characteristics, the latter person was a record by the representatives for the former being making of the Muromachi period approximately at the same time, and 慈円 (忠通息) which was an author of 愚管抄 in a thing was a relative of Ikuko. Ikuko describes it under the estimate called the child of 忠通 as follows.

The real mother 忠通家女房, 督殿源俊子 (Murakami Genji, daughter of local 受領源顕俊).

Life

I am conferred し, 同日従三位 in the December 17 case (1161) in the Oho first year. I assume 女御宣下, a Wisteria building (Fujitsubo) a station ten days later. I call the installation of the empress, the Empress it (1162) on February 19 for Oho two years (as for the honorific term for empress, for dowager empress, for grand-dowager empress tayu 兼実 equal to the half-brother). As a princess of は 前関白忠通 in her case, an adopted child of the existing kampaku group fruit (true older brother), the Emperor Nijo in this way succeeded in the cooperation with the regency family, and 忠通, a basis father child supported direct Imperial government of the Emperor as a father of the nobility, a kampaku. Ikuko did 同殿 in temporary Imperial Palace, 押小路東洞院殿 of the Emperor and, in March of the year of the installation of the empress, ran a tanka game, competition of making shellfish-theme tankas by the tutelage of the Emperor and the regency family.

However, Ikuko lost the Emperor Nijo after marriage in less than four years (I lose 忠通 of father in the last year). The Emperor prostrated himself/herself in illness (1165) from the end of April in the Eiman first year and fell into serious condition in spite of a prayer of the healing. I abdicated it to 皇子順仁親王 (the Emperor Rokujo) on June 25 and, on July 28 of the next day when 順仁 gave enthronement ceremony, passed away at 23 years old.

Because the real mother of the Emperor Rokujo was a daughter of 伊岐致遠 (height of justice) of the thane, and the social position of the mother's side was too low, the tutelage was feeble. Therefore Ikuko was engaged in nurture of the Emperor as "the step mother" who did not become only the name and did the sedan chair as an empress dowager for a royal visit and I counted it and held the emperor (Chokan era November 14, 2 Nissei) for 2 years old, eight months in enthronement ceremony and climbed the Imperial Throne. And an older brother group fruit of Ikuko turned in regency from a kampaku, and an aide worked as a young lord.

The basis fruit died in (1166) in the Ninan first year, too and other ministers died, too and changed, and the real power moved to the Shirakawa House after having been opposed from while alive of Article 2. 後白河院 controlled Article 2 post mortem politics as you of 治天 and pushed His Imperial Highness Prince Norihito of the Shigeko Tairano place life to favor (the Emperor Takakura) into a Crown Prince's Palace. A 6-year-old uncle stood in the Crown Prince's Palace whereas the Emperor was 3 years old and a nephew, and the official investiture of the Crown Prince ceremony carried out (1166) on October 10 in the Ninan first year was described as a great exceptional case.

The Emperor Rokujo was made to abdicate to the Emperor Takakura by Shirakawa House, Kiyomori Taira (1168) on February 19 for Ninan three years after cooperating. The rite to mark the attainment of manhood was not carried out and passed away at 13 years old as the exceptional "ex-emperor of the boy look" (1176) afterwards on July 17 for Yasumoto two years.

Ikuko who was a step mother of the Emperor Rokujo became a priest on October 9, the same year of the Emperor abdication. Because it was had in an honorific term for empress, for dowager empress, for grand-dowager empress princess Tokuko Tairano of the Emperor Takakura newly (1172) 冊立 on February 10 Shoan era two years, a title was checked by Empress' Palace. I died at 28 years old for the death of the Emperor Rokujo (1173) on August 15 for Shoan era three years in walking ahead of つこと 3.
