A chi frank (Kaj Franck, from 1911 to 1989) Finnish designer.

I learn a furniture design from 1932 in College of Arts of Helsinki. I become the designer of the Arabian company in textile designer, 1945 in 1938 and take office as an art director of the company in 1950. I was active as a designer of ceramics, but am engaged in a glass design in ヌータヤルヴィ company (it merges with イッタラ company in 1988) from イッタラ company, 1950 from 1946. Call the simple beautility that made a model of the old culture and industrial art object of the Finnish farmer for the ideal "conscience of Finland" and is still got close. I am famous as a designer of the practical glassware, but make an art glass and the work of a piece of thing. While I visit visit to Japan, each place as a personal trip in Japan in 1956, a rumor of the existence spreads and gives a lecture in Kyoto. The impact is strong, and it is said that the lecture contents which I call for a visit to Japan formally this time and asked about the way of the ceramics design in 1958 affected the Japanese design whole.
