Career

It is said that I was absorbed in boxing since I lose the boxing with the kangaroo which went for the entertainment of the night festival in the sixth grader. The professional debut is 1943 under the wartime. I leave the grade of eight clean scores, but it is convened and is embedded with the navy and greets the end of the war as a mechanic. It was low back pain, and, after demobilization, I was driven into the crisis just before the retirement by a workmen's accident when I maintained a Kamikaze for the navy era of the thing which returned to the fistiana. However, I am found at that time by biologist Alvin R Khan of the GHQ staff who went in and out of a gym and let the quality flower with his full-scale support.

I am given the meal which is full of nourishment under the instruction of Khan and carry out health care thoroughly, and the boxing of Shiroi brings back breath by having corrected it in the style that is technical than defense-centered utilized hands and feet and motor nerves having a long it and I win in world title match with dado Marino (the United States) in 1952 and acquire throne. I achieved 4 degrees defense afterward. For a Japanese depressed for defeat, the activity in king acquisition of Shiroi and the later defense became light "of" hope.

Episode

Inejiro Asanuma of the remote relative acted as the go-between.

The relations with Shiroi and Khan more than the ranges of a player and the coach was able to right say "a family". It did not change even if I put it after a retirement, and the interchange with teacher, Khan who settled down in Japan after a retirement of Shiroi continued till the last. Khan of later years suffered from dementia, but received the warm care of Mr. and Mrs. Shirai until I died. It is said that Khan without the child handed over all property to Shirai posthumously.

In addition, Shirai kept advice "not to have to meddle with boxing business" of Khan. I establish Shiroi, Gushiken sports gym with Yoko Gushiken in 1995 and leave the management to Gushiken of the partner only by an investment totally although I took office as the honorary chairman of gym (but, in response to a request of Toshiro Tanaka, I have acted as a gym special coach in dawn.) .

On December 26, 2003, I die because of pneumonia. 80 years old death.

58 last war records are 48 wins (20KO) eight defeats two minutes. Seven world war war records are five wins two defeats.
※Postwar data are unknown, and there is the detailed exposition including 58 46 wins (18KO) eight defeats four minutes about the war record of Shiroi more before the war for 65 53 wins (22KO) eight defeats four minutes.

Collection of sayings

  • As for "the origin, it will be a mission (as a leader) to make a good player, and but "" which was good boxing no longer wants you to think to students, and therefore when what repeat it, and say must not be touched, a thing avoids it and hits it, I hit it and avoid it, and such, I may be to regret it in the future, and the form of the face collapses if I do not box, and it may be for detached retinas"
  • "After all because after all there is a wonderful skill in the place to hit when I do not go if I do not do the boxing that is "healthy sports" without letting it is possible even for a child that to persuade all, and this is hit and hits you and hit it"

(I extract it than "サライ" August 5, 1999 issue)

I it about position gym

Yoshio Shirai is the person that it was to a champion under the Europe and America-type management system without belonging to a gym among the Japanese world kings whom I gave birth to formally alone. From the prince fist Hokkaido assembly (existing emperor fist) where I belonged to after the war, Dr. Khan practiced by the home and the private gym (under an alias: silaKhan gym) after the management bought rights.
Although I received hard repulsion from the association which persisted in a Japanese style gym system, I finally compromised in the world champions that a Japanese was the first in front of Shiroi that was a hero at the time and did only Shiroi with the exception of the Japanese style gym system and decided not to recognize an exception at all afterward.
The association which does not admit anything other than a Japanese style gym system even now describes position of Shiroi that was active out of an association with free and, from wrong circumstances, position gym of Yoshio Shirai appearing in the table of the list of world kings well and "Shirai" that it is described the home of Shiroi and the private gym as Shirai gym, and is not things with the actual situation.
