History

Miniature shrine (old main shrine). It is "箱館戦争降伏式之地" monument to stand to this side right.

There are various opinions in the foundation age, and, according to the record "Fukuyama strong room of the Matsumae feudal clan," there is it with "time ignorance" [1], and it is like a Shinto shrine of (Genroku era three years), and it is in 1690 saying "there is it now from 100 years ago" [2]. On the other hand, with the history of the Shinto shrine, (the Akinori first year), 河野加賀守森幸 come from 氣比神宮 for 1,390 years when 奉遷 did God of War [1]. In addition, in the Hokkaido Shrine agency, I do that I did 奉遷 with Kasahara right Genta of the Echizen country [3].

With the legend that Ainu surrendered because the oak which grew in Nanaehama was seen in the army when Nobuhiro Takeda prayed in the case of a fight of コシャマイン [4]. Become the prayer place of the Matsumae feudal clan for (Bunroku three years) in 1594, and a main shrine wants to be erected afterwards for (Keicho era eight years) in 1603 by Morihiro Matsumae [3]; [2].

A stone torii is dedicated in 1847 by Shigeru Kudo Goro who was (Koka era three years), a box building prefect of the Matsumae feudal clan [2]. I rebuild (Bunkyu two years), a main shrine in 1862. When the existing main shrine was erected in (1964) in 1964, this main shrine is transferred and I am used as miniature shrine now and am a building of the Hakodate oldest to exist [2].

It becomes the battlefield in box building war of May (1869) in 1869, and a shrine office is baked, and a bullet hole remains to miniature shrine [5]. After Takeaki Enomoto and others surrendered, and they negotiated with new government troop in a private house nearby on May 17, the same year, I visited this Shinto shrine and took an oath of surrender [6]. I was opposed to Hakodate Hachiman shrine over a firm's name of "veneration company" early in the Meiji era, but the leading Hakodate Hachiman shrine of the town with much number of the parishioners is established with veneration Corporation by a Bureau of Development, too [7]. I was appointed to (1876), a village shrine in 1876 [3].
