Hakusan-shi is located in the southeastern part of Jilin, and, in the east, in the Yanbian Korea group self-government state, the west, Tonghua City, the north touch the Democratic People's Republic of Korea with Jilin City, the south across Yalu Jiang.

History

The city name comes from long Shiroyama (a Korea name: a white head mountain) in the city.

(light cord 34 years), the Qing dynasty set up 臨江県 newly in the eastern part of Tonghua prefecture in 1902. 臨江県 became the abolition in 1949, and 渾江市 as the prefecture grade city was assumed the jurisdiction of the establishment, the Tonghua district. On February 4, 1985, 渾江市 was promoted to the ground grade city, and Busho of the Tonghua district, both prefectures of Seiu and a long white Korea group self-government prefecture were assumed the jurisdiction of 渾江市. It is renamed to Hakusan-shi on January 31, 1994 and reaches it at the present.
