Development of the design

The side of AMX-GT

AMX-GT shortened a wheelbase of ジャヴェリン of 4 seat coupes in 97 inches (2,464mm) of (I agree with AMX of the mass production type 2 seat coupe) and lowered the amount of car, and I cut down body posterior extremity as the chop top (Chop top), and a roof was produced. The body of this car that only one was produced comprised "macho エクゾーストパイプ" (macho external exhaust pipes) which I attached to the body rear and the body side made of glass fiber [1].

There were two kinds in AMX-GT. I hung it on the ceiling, and white stripe was painted with, and the vehicle displayed for New York international auto show of April, 1968 comprised roof and the rigid rear side window which there was not of the B pillar which unified [2], a side soup stock muffler, lamb air in take bonnet, spoilers belonging to it in the normal black tire which attached a smooth plate-shaped wheel cover on the red body from the body side.

The wheel was changed to the combination of white letter tire and wheel made of alloy of five spokes made in Goodyear soon [2]. The bonnet and the roof were repainted in contrastive dark-blue, but of the car afterward this as for this color main; characterize; later AMC of the red / white / blue obi was adopted by an early stage of works race car until changed it to painting it.

Inheritance

Some of characteristics of AMX-GT were adopted in a following mass production model and the option. First one is side エクゾーストパイプ made option setting in ジャヴェリン and AMX of the expression in 1969. In addition, the thing which added improvement to the air scoop of AMX-GT to some extent was included in "GO package" (GO Package) of the maker option set in ジャヴェリン and AMX of the 1970 type. As for the black painting that I matted that was named "a shadow mask" (British: shadow mask), it was said option setting in 1970-type AMX.

The design disposal of rear end parts that I cut off of AMX-GT was reproduced in gremlin (Gremlin) of the subcompact which I appeared in 1970. This design technique of Teague utilizing a certain limit resource of AMC to the maximum will bring about a new car model from an existing platform.

In the annual report (annual report) of 1969 of AMC distributed by a stockholder, a various design sketching and candidates idea of AMX-GT was used as a background of the photographs of the director formation of AMC. In the formal photograph of the board of directors, officers come out with this the second concept car, but a bonnet and the roof of this car are black and are painted at this point in time [3].
