History

L アルテット Airport opened on May 4, 1967 by rearranging old la ラバーサ airport that there was to Alicant from 1936. The name comes from the L アルテット district where an airport is located. The first commerce service was a conveyer by red-throated loon Ako Airlines (English version) [5]. Iberia Airlines established Alicant = window lead and a regular service of the Alicant = Barcelona Line in November, 1969 [6]. A passenger volume reached 1 million in the early 1970s, and the construction of the new terminal was planned. A runway was extended to 3,000m in 1980 [5]. The next airport remodeling construction was carried out in 1996 [6]. A new office building was built in addition to the management, duties center, and five boarding bridge was introduced for smooth boarding for the first time [6]. A new terminal opened in 2011, and the maximum acceptance number of people increased to 20 million a year [7]. All flights take off and land at the new terminal, and terminal 1 and terminal 2 used before the opening of the new terminal are closed. The construction of the corridor connecting a new terminal and the former terminal is planned, and the traveler becomes able to use all terminals in dawn of the completion [8].

Iberia Airlines was a reading carrier of the Alicante Airport [9], and Iberia Airlines declined with the decline of the conventional airline historically until 2003, too, and EasyJet Airline of the low-cost carrier was able to blunder in 2004 [9]. In 2007, Ryanair which was a Europe's biggest low-cost carrier established a base in Alicante [10]. Ryanair becomes the reading carrier of the Alicante Airport in 2009, and it is in the base of more than 11 planes in 2011 and navigates 62 routes and has more than 3000000 travelers. However, in the end of October, 2011, Ryanair withdrew from 31 routes that arrived and departed from a disagreement with airport, A.T.C. public corporation (Aena) about the use of the boarding bridge of the new terminal in Alicante Airport [11].

Terminal

It is only a new terminal to be currently used. Since the opening of the new terminal, terminal 1 and terminal 2 are closed.

New terminal

On March 23, 2011, a new terminal (transcribed into terminal N) opened formally. On March 24 of the next day, all flights which arrived and departed moved the Alicante Airport to the new terminal. The first flight of the new terminal was メミンゲン Airport (English version) flight of Ryanair. The area of the new terminal is 333,500m2 and is more than 6 times of the area that merged terminal 2 with terminal 1. I comprise 96 check-in counter, 40 boarding gates, 15 boarding bridge, 16 baggage conveyers [12]. The new terminal parts in two areas of the dock where there are processor which C gate is located, most of B gates. The flight in the Schengen Convention area uses both areas of the terminal, but the flight to the Schengen Convention area outside uses only a dock. The new terminal was built on the east side of terminal 1.

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 (T1) had 38 check-in counter from the first to the 38th, one counter (the 39th) for the special baggage, nine baggage conveyers, and five (odd number number) had boarding bridge among 11 boarding gates. When a new terminal opened on March 24, 2011, terminal 1 was closed. With the plan to be allied with a new terminal in a corridor, and to open again [8].

Terminal 2

Terminal 2 (T2) was next to terminal 1 and opened in January, 2007. Terminal 2 had 14 check-in counter from the 51st to the 64th, six boarding gates, two baggage conveyers and did not have the boarding bridge. When a new terminal opened on March 24, 2011, it was closed down with terminal 1. Terminal 2 is going to open again as a private flight, aviation first aid, an exclusive terminal including the small charter flight, but is not decided on the date and time of the re-opening [8].
