Koyanagi Hayami

Koyanagi Hayami (こやなぎはやみ, from February 2, 1903 to January 22, 1955) is the Japanese land (long-distance running) player who is in the first half of the Showa era.

Life

I am born in Kanzaki-gun, Saga. I received instruction of Genzaburo Noguchi during old system Saga Junior High School attendance at school and began track and field in earnest.

After graduation from junior high school, I move to Sasebo-shi for a job at 17 years old. I continued practicing while working as the rickshaw driver (itself served as training to strengthen legs) of the jinrikisha which a doctor got on at the time of the house call of the hospital in Sasebo.

It started the Japanese record (for the second 33 minutes 52 seconds the seventh 32 minutes 06 seconds) at the time of each, and it won the championship at the seventh meeting of (1933) six times in second and 1933 of (1925) in 1925 of them to play Meiji Shrine meeting (forerunner of current national polity track and field) in 10,000 meters.

I die (1955) on January 22 in 1955.

It is opened in Sasebo-shi, and "the Koyanagi Prize contracted marathon" that named the name of Koyanagi in (1951) in 1951 during the lifetime is held as Koyanagi Prize Sasebo city road race meeting after the change every year now in January.
