Shizuka Shirakawa (しらかわしずか, from April 9, 1910 to October 30, 2006) is a scholar of Japanese classical Chinese, an Orientalist. The degree Doctorate in Literature (Kyoto University). Professor emeritus at Ritsumeikan University, a honorary hall friend. FukuiFukui-shiA native place.

Origin

I live in the office of lawyer Tokuzo Hirose (through Osaka member of prefectural assembly a representative of constitutionalism civil administration party) and, in 1923, work after graduation in an acclimation primary school and go to 成器商業夜間部 (existing Osaka arts and sciences Senior High School). I become a professor at university studies preparatory course, specialty department. I acted as a professor at Ritsumeikan University department of literature from 1954. I become retirement at the age limit, a special appointment professor at 66 years old in 1976. I receive the title of the honorary professor in 1981. I donated a part of the own writing charges to the university in later years, and a commemorative letter culture research institute was established (until death the director and the chief director).

In 1962, a doctoral dissertation acquires a literature doctorate by "a study of the interest" (Kyoto University). They are known as the first person of the ancient kanji study, and dictionary trilogy "字統" [in 1984 each.Heibonsha Publishers Ltd.], "Japanese rendering of a Chinese character" (1987), "authority of character" (1996) are result of the lifeworks of Shirakawa.

I publish "Shizuka Shirakawa collected writings" (all 12 volumes), "Shizuka Shirakawa collected writings supplementary volume" (I divide it into all four sittings and plan all 23 volumes) in Heibonsha Publishers Ltd. from the time when the 20th century is over and start. A kanji dictionary "common use character solution" and "the person's name character solution for the wide readers who are higher than side Junior High School, a high school student," "回思九十年" which an interview, the talk recorded publishes "Katsura east miscellaneous notes". As for the hobby, it is climbed a mountain Go. I received instruction from a professional in Kansai Kiin on a young day and did the Go with considerable skill. Because I state six steps of flax that it was Futago in autobiography "回思九十年", I am supposed when it was four steps of skill. I considerably collected the newspaper go of Seigen Go. Because I strengthened a sickly body by mountain climbing, I was very tough-footed.

Criticism

It is religious, and Shirakawa insisted in the constitution of the kanji of the days of creation such as inscriptions on bones and tortoise carapaces and ancient letters carved in metal when there was a black art-like thing in the background, but it is criticized from a Sinologist of the mainstream led by Kojiro Yoshikawa, Akiyasu Todou at the time that proof just does these difficult elements with a theory, and Tetsuji Atsuji inheriting it takes the critical opinion.
