A group of the smooth jazz / fusion that the four play (Fourplay) was formed in 1990 by Bob James of the pianist, Lee Ritenour of the guitarist, ネイザン yeast of the bassist and the vocalist, four people of Harvey Mason of the drummer. The current guitarist changes a member for a zipper robe through Larry Carlton.

History
Four people performed a session all together and found a kindred spirit in you, and, in 1990, they formed a group in a leader product "grand piano canyon" of Bob James. I make my debut with a self-title in the next year. L デバージ does a guest-shot to the cover of the the dance in the after of the Marvin gay. This album recorded the first place in the contemporary jazz chart of the billboard magazine for 33 weeks. "A bitween the sheet" leaves "Erik seal" and a good grade and wins a gold disk with 3 products.
Lee Ritenour offered postponement of the recording for the pressure while I planned 4 items. However, the production of 4 items became more difficult because I established voluntary label "i.e. music", and Ritenour became busier. Therefore other members made up their mind to look for a substituted guitarist and I raised candidate of several Jonathan Butler et al. and negotiated, but recommendation suggested Larry Carlton, and the yeast which did a session just before that urged it, and Carlton entered it.
In 1997, I release album "④" as a new life four play. There was few you in the opportunity of the session with other members till then, and I could not participate in composition by the participation at the recording brink, and the distance with other members was founded, but even "yes, please" and a new member continued announcing the album in 2000, and I established "the new four play" that increased before, and strengthened unity and each personality, and the member continued group activity parallel to busy solo activity of each after this and did a guest-shot to collaboration album "shaikh イット up" of Bonney James and the Rick brown during this period again in a group, and album "Snow bound" left Warner Bro. of the old home by a plan in 2001 on Christmas in 1999 and moved to the jazz label Bluebird record which Arista founded and announced 6 item "heart felt", and original Carlton announced 10 items in total and "X (ten)" where it was unlike Ritenour in 2006.
I announce that I transferred to heads up international in an official site on February 4 in 2008. I announce "the energy" in September and I add a bonus truck in Japan and lead one month ago and release it. In addition, "best of four play ~ ライヴ in Cape Town" that recorded a live in Cape Town performed in 2005 in August is released.
Because Larry Carlton engaged in solo activity in February, 2010, a zipper robe participated in withdrawal, a successor [1], and "the let's touch the sky" was announced in October.
In August, 2015, the album "silver" of the 25th anniversary of the band organization was announced. Carlton participates in this album by one piece with Ritenour as a guest each. On September 6, I appear in the 14th Tokyo JAZZ as head liner of the evening performances on Sunday. Carlton that appeared for a matinee with Ritenour who appeared for an evening performance came up as a guest by the encore on the same day, and the costarring by all each generation members was performed.
On October 10, 2016, I appear for Tokyo seaside jazz Festival. Larry Carlton participates in 代演 of the zipper robe which I was not able to appear by a sudden illness in a hurry.
