Summary

Luftwaffe did not hold an effective heavy bomber squadron. Walter ヴェーファー lieutenant general of first staff officer, director of Luftwaffe was a strong prophet of Germany holding a long-distance strategic bomber squadron, and this became the promotion of "the Ural bomber plan" under the ヴェーファー general. "The Technology Administration" (Technisch Amt) of the German Air Ministry (RLM) published the demand specifications of the heavy bomber of four engines. However, Alberto ケッセルリンク of the successor of ヴェーファー canceled a long-distance bomber plan when ヴェーファー died by an airplane accident in June, 1936 to devote itself to a tactical bomber.

Both companies of Junkers competed with Dornier by this contract and received the ordering of the prototype of three each late in 1935. The design of Dornier Corporation was given a number of Do.19, and the prototype of Junkers company became Ju 89.

The history and development

Dornier Do 19 almost had the main wing of the wing placement and the body of the rectangle section with all metal structure during a single durability ceremony, and, as for the tail assembly, a prop 双垂直尾翼 and rudder belonging to it which closely resembled the British Armstrong ホイットワースホイットレイ medium bomber for the same period were attached to the top surface of the tailplane. The undercarriage was a tail wheel-style gaining over type, and it was planned that the engine attached four Bramo 322H-2 star type engine in Nasser of the main wing leading edge according to some documents.

The crew of Do 19 were pilot, copilot, navigation person, bomb aimer, operator, ten people of five riflemans in total. The V-1 of the prototype made the first flight on October 28, 1936 after ヴェーファー lieutenant general died by an airplane accident, but I lose force, and the heavy bomber plan did not revive. The mistake that did not hold a heavy bomber when Luftwaffe added a single blow severe in the sky of the U.K. was exposed. However, it was too late to develop the bomber which was sometimes expected today or tomorrow.

Because I believed Alberto ケッセルリンク of the successor of ヴェーファー when the thing which Germany required was more fighters and tactical bombers, V-two and the V3 prototype were canceled, and the V-1 was redecorated into a carrier in 1938. Dornier Do 19 advanced only until a trial manufacture stage, but was the body of the design that could become the useful long-distance bomber.
