Austin village
The residential area where the Austin village (Austin Village) was developed during World War I between the long bridge and north field of the suburbs of Birmingham, England by the house of the prefab house method of construction.
When I converted a factory into the production of a tank and the plane during World War I, Herbert Austin which founded Austin car to a long bridge in 1905 will have employees more than past. In 1917, Austin built the residential area for employees on the land of the terplain-looking woman green (Turves Green) that I purchased for 7,750 pounds [1]. Austin imported 200 prefabricated bungalows of red Cedar (red cedar) materials from the アラディン company (The Aladdin Company) of the United States of America Michigan bay city [1]. The material was carried across the Atlantic and was sent safely without, fortunately, encountering the attack of the U-boat. 25 built by a traditional method of construction of the brickwork dispersed in consideration of it being in the case of a fire in a firebreak and, in addition to a built house, were in this way located [1]. The central heating which burnt coke to each house, a gas cooking device, a gas hot water supply device, a sink and drainer (drainer), a bathroom with bath were possessed [2]. As for the outside size of the bungalow, there was a ポイラー room in a porch, the back at 6 inches of 20 feet in width (6.25m), 35 feet in depth 3 inches (10.74m) on the front. The bedroom which was three had 9'7" (2.92m) square area each [2]. In a house of the brickwork, gas was prepared for two places [2].
On the circular green tract of land established in the middle of low one way (Rowan Way) and mule Nam way (Laburnum Way), there was the house of the amusement place of the octagonal child, but disappears now [2]. The building of the Hawks Lee farm (Hawkesley Farm) before development was redecorated into the assembly room (a village hall and club room) of the district [2].
Along the central avenue (Central Avenue), Hawks Lee Crescent (Hawkesley Crescent), the Hawks Lee drive (Hawkesley Drive), the coney green drive (Coney Green Drive), the cypress way (Cypress Way), the cedar way (Cedar Way), the mule Nam way, the low one way, the road such as the Maple way (Maple Way), the tree which grew up was transplanted. The Austin village was completed in only 11 months, and it was loaned out to a bungalow as the lodgings for 12 in a house of the brickwork for seven by employees of Austin [1].
公現祭教会 (Church of the Epiphany) where a wooden Baptist church belonged to an English national church for the north loser of the central drive (Central Drive) was built at the corner of the the oak walk (The Oak Walk), but does not exist all [3].
When I understood a war regime, and the number of employees decreased, the bungalow which lost the business as the lodgings became the house for sale. This residential area becomes the normal bedroom suburb now in the same way as neighboring areas. In 1997, I was appointed as Austin village maintenance area (Austin Village Conservation Area) based on Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 [4].
