Summary

Figure of form (before remodeling)

It is this form that I put the improvement that I put together for circumstances of Japan to a base, and made ソ 20 form imported in (1928) in 1928 by the United States domestic production. Seven (ソ 30 - ソ 36) were made in Japanese National Railways Hamamatsu factory and Hitachi, Ltd. from (1936) through 1947 (1947) in 1936.

As for the handling load, 65t, a supplement comprised two wooden pail frame type bogey carts of 3 axes to the cart at 15t (at the time of outrigger biggest development) the main winding. The original power was available for the self-run at the low speed with a steam engine. Therefore I was accompanied by the tender of the biaxial expression that I could load with coal 2t and water 10t of the fuel. This tender named a number same as the main body it as well as the tender of the steam locomotive.

I could stand the strain at the time of use and was easy to use the steam engine, but because time suffered until vapor pressure rose even if I arrived at the spot, and the maintenance was troublesome, I picked up power on the diesel engine same as ソ 80 form and was changed from (1970) in 1970, and the tender was discarded, too.

It was time schedule revision and was assumed a speedup inappropriate status car (1968) on October 1 in 1968, and it was a designation car of a maximum of 65km/h in speed and "ro" was added to a sign for identification, and it was in "ソ" and wound up an obi of the yellow (yellow 1).

Painting it was black at the time of the completion, but was changed to the light green. In the case of an examination for whole, a car changed to one color of coating of yellow 1 existed afterwards. There is not the clear standard of these different colors, and it seems that it depends on the difference of the factory to enter in the case of an examination for whole. The car of the light green winds up an obi of yellow 1.

I am used as a large freight car for heavy goods with ソ 80 form until the 1980s, and all cars were scrapped by Japanese National Railways division and privatization of (1987) in 1987, but one (ソ 34) is saved in Otaru-shi synthesis Museum.

Placement

As for the placement, ソ 20 form was placed in Sapporo, Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, 5 Railway Bureau of Moji one five that they included each, and they were after the war, and 増備 done three were located in Niigata, Sendai, 3 Administration Bureau of Shikoku.

The reserve stations (the placement station) as of (1980) are as follows for 1,980 years.
