With Lupercalia (fame: Lupercalia), it is one of the festivals of the ancient Roman age.
Summary
It is a festival to admire God Maia of goddess Juno and the abundant harvest of the marriage that is gods of the ancient Roman age.
with Valentine's Day of relationships
This festival is the source of current Valentine's Day. Judging from Christianity, it was the festival of gods of the paganism at first, and there was not the Christianity color like current Valentine's Day at all.
However, Lupercalia was abolished by the Pope ゲラシウス first concerned about Lupercalia to promote sexual disorder in the fifth century in the Christian era disturbing the public morals of the youth at the time, and Valentine's Day was founded instead.
The following legends existed accidentally. In other words, marriage was prohibited in Rome in the third century (there is not such a historical fact), but Saint ウァレンティヌス is to have been sentenced to an artifact of a severed head for the crime that controlled the marriage of the dense couple on February 14.
I founded a Christian event of the acceptable form to a pagan in place of Lupercalia based on this legend while a color being dark, and leaving a characteristic to join man and woman together. It is in this way thought that I schemed the conversion of the pagan who is not a Christian.
